On this crisp fall day 🍂, are you craving a bowl of vegetable gumbo? Or some corn cakes with apple butter? These delicious dishes were just a taste of what our members prepared and served at our annual Farm to Table event! 😋

Each dish featured vegetables grown in the Van Voorhees Garden at our Frick Center, where hundreds of pounds of produce are harvested annually.

A special shoutout to our Garden Coordinator, Catherine Woods, who was honored as DSP of the Year by The Arc of Illinois! 👏👏 Thanks to her leadership, the garden has donated more than 750 plants to the community. She also launched a mentoring program, empowering our expert gardeners to share their knowledge on composting, regenerative farming and immune support techniques with other Envision Unlimited sites.

We’re so proud of Catherine and our members for cultivating food, community and opportunity. Want to learn more? Check out Catherine’s recent feature in Parade.com! 🤩 https://parade.com/living/perennials-stop-deadheading-late-summer

It’s Direct Support Professional Recognition Week, and we’re shining a light on all of our amazing DSPs! ✨ These dedicated professionals make up more than half of our team, supporting our members in everything from cooking meals to thriving at work.

Our DSPs go above and beyond every day to help our members live their fullest lives, and we were proud to celebrate them with tacos, treats and ice cream this week. 🧡 Thank you to all of our DSPs for making choice, independence and inclusion possible for thousands of people with disabilities and mental health challenges! 👏👏
