A 30% vitamin C solution dissolved in DMSO completely cleared 86% of basal cell skin cancer lesions within eight weeks in clinical trials.
In a randomized comparative trial published in Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, researchers evaluated a novel topical formulation combining high-concentration ascorbic acid (vitamin C) with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)—a powerful deep-penetrating solvent.
By enabling the antioxidant to pe*****te deeply into affected skin tissue, the combination achieved an impressive 86.7% complete lesion clearance rate in patients with low-risk basal cell carcinoma after eight weeks of twice-daily application, noticeably outperforming standard topical chemotherapy treatments like imiquimod.
Beyond its striking efficacy, the vitamin C and DMSO treatment demonstrated remarkable safety with significantly fewer adverse effects, avoiding the long-term skin hypopigmentation often triggered by conventional topical therapies.
With basal cell carcinoma standing as the most prevalent form of skin cancer globally, experts view these preliminary findings as a major step toward non-invasive, low-cost therapeutic options, though larger clinical trials are still needed to establish widespread medical protocols.
