Accessibility is at the heart of herbal medicine. In order to be an accessible and inclusive practitioner, we have to ask ourselves - who do I want to access my services, and what are the specific barriers that they face? Barriers include physical, financial, technological and cultural, and differ based on each person’s lived experience. It can be easy for us to be inaccessible without realizing it to people who have different needs. How can we set up our practice and consultations in a way that is accessible, welcoming and respectful for each person’s unique needs? How can we adapt or respond to barriers as they arise? How can we improve the accessibility of our clinic and educational spaces while centering sustainability over the long term, as professionals who have to balance our values with making a living? This class will provide practical and concrete skills and models you can put into practice now to better welcome and support a diversity of clients.

Swooning over the new aromatic roses I got this year that repeat bloom. Trimmed a few to enjoy indoors before last night’s frost. The peachy one is sunbelt Savannah from angel gardens (low chemical) and magenta is David Austin Gabriel oak bought locally at and end of year sale (probably has chemicals sadly). Attempting them as patio pots 🤞I succeed in overwintering! I’ve really missed having good roses in my yard! So happy to enjoy these fall blooms. I loved my Rugosa rose at the old property but it was too unruly to plant here.

Perimenopause and menopause can feel like hellfire for some of us, and like a beautiful metamorphosis into more radiant health for others. Most of us land somewhere in between. Either way, the hormonal fluctuations and shifts that come with this transition affect far more than just hot flashes, and as herbalists, having solid, nuanced knowledge in this area is essential. The bulk of the population seeking herbal support is peri- and post-menopausal, and they deserve a practitioner who really knows their stuff. In this class I bring nearly three decades of clinical experience working clients in their menopause transitions as well as my own personal journey through this transition. My approach is grounded, evidence-informed, and deeply practical. Topics will include hot flashes, sleep, and much more.

One of the most complex sets of diseases and also among the most misunderstood, hypermobility syndromes have recently come to the forefront due to campaigns led by patients and provider allies. However, when it comes to genetic connective tissue diseases that can cause hypermobility due to collagen loss such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, the impact can and usually does go far beyond the level of the joints. Therefore, in order to approach these symptoms, conditions, and co-morbidities effectively, the real story behind how and where changes to collagen target the anatomy and physiology of the hypermobile body must be told. In this class, we will go into these foundations, discuss how hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) might affect each body system and how to assess for symptoms and patterns of dysfunction. Lastly, we will review plant-forward integrative protocols for the "Triad": hEDS, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).

Lauren Eadline, FNP, APHN-BC, RH (AHG), is a consulting medical provider, clinical herbalist and plant medicine educator in Central New York. She maintains a small medical practice in Homer, NY where she specializes in complex medical conditions, gender and reproductive care, and herbal & nutritional medicine. About 75% of her practice relates to hypermobile conditions and their comorbidities. To connect with Lauren or her private practice Circles of Sage, PLLC, find her on instagram , on her website www.earthstrongcenter.com or email her at [email protected]

Many herbs and functional foods have pungent, spicy flavors and warming, circulation-enhancing activities. Golden Milk is a great example that is delicious. There are many variations of this drink and it can be tailored to your taste.

Golden Milk: Turmeric and a pinch of black pepper in warmed fatty milk (cow, coconut, oatmilk, etc.), lightly sweetened, can easily be expanded to include cinnamon, ginger, and/or a pinch of nutmeg and cardamom. Powdered freeze dried blueberries blend nicely as well.

Hey hey... peri-/menopausal folks in the house! I know there are quite a few of you.... check out this class I'm teaching in October for Mel The Herbalist's Path that is open for drop in students ~ Direct link to register at https://www.theherbalistspath.com/offers/wBeGUYRX/checkout

I am SO excited to share that clinical herbalist and author Maria Noël Groves of Wintergreen Botanicals, LLC of is joining us inside the Community Herbalist program to teach Herbs for Perimenopause & Menopause: Navigating the Transition with Confidence.

And we’re opening this guest class up to herbalists outside of the program, too!

Reality is, perimenopause and menopause are about a whole lot more than hot flashes.

Hormonal shifts during this transition can show up as sleep disturbances, mood changes, brain fog, vaginal dryness, blood sugar changes, cardiovascular changes, bone loss, constitutional dryness, thyroid considerations, and so much more.

And thankfully, there are several ways herbs can support us through this transition. 🌿

Maria brings nearly three decades of clinical herbal experience, with peri- and post-menopausal folks making up a large part of her client work. She’s also the award-winning author of Body into Balance, Grow Your Own Herbal Remedies, Herbal Remedies for Sleep, and Herbal Gut Health. If you haven’t grabbed those books yet, they most certainly deserve a spot on your shelf!📚

In her class, we’ll be digging into what’s happening in the body during this transition, lifestyle support, Maria’s favorite herbs and differentials, individualized herbal care, considerations around hormone therapy, embracing this time of life as a sacred honor, and how we can navigate this chapter with a whole lot more knowledge and confidence.

Class is happening Tuesday, October 13th at 2 PM Pacific.

Come live, ask your questions, and learn from Maria.

And yes, there will be a replay with lifetime access if you can’t make it live.

Comment MENOPAUSE and I’ll send you the details.

Or grab your spot through the link in my bio.
