Big news for the Chippewa Valley: we’re opening a full-service hospital in Chippewa Falls in August 2027. 🏥
Two and a half years ago, HSHS closed Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s, and more than 70,000 of our neighbors lost consistent local care.
This community refused to accept that as the end of the story.
Today, the financing is in place. More than $14 million in gifts and grants from residents, businesses, foundations, and more than 100 local physicians, together with loans from Frandsen Bank & Trust and Northwestern Bank, will open Chippewa Valley Cooperative Hospital with:
✅ A 24/7 Emergency Department staffed by board-certified emergency physicians
✅ Inpatient beds
✅ Surgery
✅ Full endoscopy services
✅ Full diagnostic and imaging services
Labor & Delivery, Intensive Care and more departments will follow through 2027 and 2028.
And we’re not starting from zero. Our Cancer Center now provides more than 450 patient visits a month, and our Wound Care Center more than 350, all on the Chippewa Falls campus.
When the hospital opens, patients who come to our Emergency Department can stay close to home for the care they need, instead of being transferred hours away.
Thank you to our members, donors, physicians, medical professionals and banking partners. This is what a community can do when it decides to take care of its own. 💙
