Selah Wellness I am an RN with a passion for Holistic health and a belief that food is medicine. I believe that I am more than my diagnosis and so are you.

I am also navigating life as a Breast Cancer Survivor and sharing my lessons along the way. At Selah Wellness we are passionate about natural whole person healing, with emphasis on nutrition. Selah means to pause and reflect and that is what I feel we need to do more of when it comes to our wellness journey! Life can be fast paced and overwhelming at times and I am here to help you slow down and tune into your body! Over the past 13 years I have worked as a Nurse and have trained in various areas of nursing, both holistic and westernized, which has guided me towards functional nutrition. I am amazed by the incredible things our bodies can do when nourished properly. My entire life I have been drawn to children and focusing on how to help them thrive. I have worked as a nanny as well as in childcare facilities and pediatric nursing. I believe that if we can help our children develop healthy habits at a young age, it will last their lifetime! Alongside elevated nutritional practices there is a great need to focus on spiritual and emotional wellbeing to be able to flourish. Wellness is truly a rounded experience that takes experimenting with multiple modalities to understand the needs of your body. We know that there is not a one size fits all to wellness and are eager to guide you on your journey! A little about me personally-
I reside in the Chisago Lakes area with my family. In my free time I enjoy trying new recipes and engaging my teenagers in the kitchen so they can play and experiment. My kids and I love to take our Miniature Australian Shepard (Winnie) on adventures. We enjoy hiking in the local parks as well as exploring new restaurants and farmers markets around the area. Small town living is so special, and we feel very grateful to live in such a beautiful place! Services-
Personalized nutrition planning (Adults/teens/kids)
Wellness retreats for teens- Day retreats/weekend retreats (watch page for posted events)
Play in the kitchen with kiddos (any age)- Teaching kids/Teens that food can be fun and exciting and should be explored. Reach out with your needs and we can work on a plan together!

Wandering the forest is where I feel most at home.
I can breathe easier.
There is so much wonder to witness.
In some countries they actually prescribe forest bathing for healing both mentally and physically.
This is in my top 5 priorities for healing.
Go hug a tree.

2.5 weeks away from my next scan.

Just thinking these words makes my heart skip a beat.

Is this the one that creates stability for my life and allows me to breathe normally again for a little while?

Is this the one that catapults me into treatment of some kind? More than what my maintenance currently consists of.

The fear is always there. Ready to present the worst possible scenario. Sometimes to the point of debilitation. Mostly consisting of a rain shower of tears. Occasionally a passing thought with nothing more.

A practice I have learned and tried to implement over the past few years is to thank the feeling even when it is uncomfortable. Every feeling is there for a reason. It serves the purpose of protection.

I have given up hope that my life will ever go back to what it once was, but I am still choosing to live each day. Spending time in nature and embracing each day for whatever it offers me is the way of my future.

All of it is worthwhile and opens my heart.

Vitamin people (or in some cases, vitamin animals) are the ones that we feel calm and peaceful around. They help regulate our nervous systems just by bring present. I have many that fill this role for me in my life, but these 2 get the spotlight today.
Dogs are such a gift.

I heard someone explain cancer fatigue and post cancer treatment fatigue in a way that really resonated with me the other day.

They said Having post cancer treatment fatigue feels like your body is filled with concrete. Everything feels heavy and like it takes so much more energy to simply move. It can be hard to move your limbs and hard to pick up your body.

It's so important to me at this point in my journey to live every single day, to experience, to feel, to find Joy, whatever that looks like, however I can.

So I 'm showing up every day the best I can and I'm doing the things and I'm trying to be there, but just because I'm showing up doesn't mean it's not hard. It's a struggle sometimes to make my body move the way I want it to.

My goal has been to get back to my normal, get back to where I was pre cancer, and I am realizing that is probably unrealistic. I don't know that I'll ever be fully back to where I was precancer, and how my body worked, and how I was able to move it, but I'm trying every day to get closer and to do more and to build strength and I know that it's getting better, but it's still hard.

So you'll see me showing up, you'll see me trying to find joy, and you'll see me putting on a smile, but just know that it's harder than it ever was before. There are many times the cost in doing an activity is great and sometimes I will pay for multiple days after an activity to let my body catch up. It's Something I'm emotionally and mentally trying to work through, as well as physically.

It's part of the journey and I am accepting this.

Thank you for walking beside me and continuing to invite me, even if my answer is "not today" most of the time.

Exercise reduces the risk of recurrence in breast cancer by up to 50%.

Every single treatment I have endured up to this point has a much lower success rate in preventing recurrence. Chemotherapy reduces the risk of recurrence by up to 23% and even less in cases like mine.

It seems like such an easy thing to do but after the trauma of surgery, chemo and radiation to your body, it is hard.
5 lb weights feel like a mountain.
Just physically getting there on the days it is hard to get off the couch is another mountain.

It is important.

It is part of my plan and I am trying my best to stick with it.

My advice- find yourself an accountability partner! I got mine and he is a keeper!
