It’s the little things that aren’t little at all. I’ve been out sick with the flu for the last week and now that I’m feeling better I’m grateful. Grateful to be able to go for a run on a cool fall morning, thankful for horses that were happy to see me, thankful to be able to be in my peaceful place with the trees. Thankful for the little things that are actually big things.

What are the things in your life that bring you peace? I’ve shared a few of mine. It’s important to know the things that steal our peace and the things that bring us peace. Pay attention to your body- it will tell you.

I’m so grateful for the beautiful weather and the amazing group of women we had for our retreat yesterday! There is something truly special about a group of women who don’t know each other but show vulnerability, kindness and support for each other. We hiked, did outdoor yoga, a guided meditation and of course hung out with my amazing horse partners- Wh***ey and Zak. Also a special thank you to my dear friend Leslie Bell of Monkey Island Equine Therapy for hosting the retreat with me.
What a magical day it was!!!

Learning ways to regulate your nervous system is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. You will have more energy, better sleep, better digestion and overall just feel better. You will also have much better communication in your relationships. This will allow the other people in your life to actually hear you and understand you more efficiently. There are many ways to regulate your nervous system- some of my personal favorites are being in nature- sunrises, trees, water. Also movement- running, yoga, kayaking and hiking, as well as breath work.
Our Equine Women’s Wellness Retreat focuses heavily on learning some of these regulation techniques. If you are thinking about joining us please do so soon. We have very limited space left. Deadline to register is Thursday October 8th.

I was reminded recently that being uncomfortable can help us grow. I had the pleasure of speaking at the Animal Conference last Friday with two wonderful people Dr. Bonnie Goodwin and Matt Goodwin. There is a reason that public speaking is the number one fear! It was a little scary but it was also exciting. I met some wonderful people that care deeply about animals. It was a beautiful reminder that being uncomfortable with the support of safe people can help you grow!
As I reflected on this, I thought counseling is like this. It’s uncomfortable at times but people definitely heal and grow.💕

RIP Gizzy.
Gizzy was a grumpy old man pony. He had been a pony horse- giving rides to kids before he came to live with us. For the last several years of his life he got to do whatever he wanted and he deserved that. The only person he really liked was my dad who took care of him everyday. He was 40 years+ old.
We will miss your grumpy little self❤️

Relationships are complicated and most of us have been hurt in relationships, but we can also heal in relationships. Sometimes that healing process is easier to start in relationships with nature and animals.
