Shoulder strength is important — but shoulder control matters, too. 💪

Your shoulders need more than brute strength. They need coordination, stability, and the ability to control movement through different positions.

Exercises like this can help you work on:

🔹 Improving shoulder stability and control
🔹 Building coordination between your shoulder blade and arm
🔹 Developing better movement awareness
🔹 Building a foundation for lifting, training, and everyday activities

At Form + Function Movement Lab, we look beyond the exercise itself to help you understand how your body moves and build strength that carries over into real life.

Don’t just move more. Move better.

Who says being an adult means you have to stop playing? 👀🪢

Jump rope might look simple, but it challenges so much more than your cardiovascular system.

🔥 Cardiovascular endurance — Get your heart rate up and build stamina.

🧠 Coordination & timing — Challenge your brain and body to work together.

⚖️ Balance & rhythm — Develop body awareness and control.

💪 Bone-loading activity — Jumping provides impact that can support bone health when appropriate for your body.

🤝 Community & FUN — Sometimes the best workouts are the ones that make you feel like a kid again.

At Form + Function, we believe fitness should prepare you for life and help you enjoy it.

You don’t have to outgrow movement that makes you feel good. You just have to keep showing up. 💙🧡

What’s one thing you loved doing as a kid that you want to bring back into your life?

Sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is pause your breath. 🫁

Breath holding, when practiced intentionally and safely, can be a powerful tool for building awareness of your body and how you respond to stress.

Here’s why we incorporate it into movement and nervous system work:

✨ Builds CO₂ tolerance — Helps you become more familiar with the natural urge to breathe as carbon dioxide rises.

✨ Improves body awareness — Teaches you to notice tension, discomfort, and your body’s signals without immediately reacting.

✨ Builds mental resilience — Offers an opportunity to practice staying calm and present when you experience mild discomfort.

✨ Supports breath control — Helps you explore how your breathing patterns influence movement, effort, and recovery.

✨ Encourages mindfulness — Creates a moment to slow down, tune in, and reconnect with yourself.

The goal isn’t to hold your breath as long as possible. It’s to become more aware of your body’s response, respect its signals, and learn when to soften, breathe, and let go.

Your breath is more than something that happens automatically. It’s a tool you can learn to work with. 🤍

Core training isn’t just about getting stronger abs. It’s about teaching your body to stabilize, coordinate, and control movement.

Adding stability work at the end of your workout is a great way to:

Build deep core strength and improve trunk stability.

Challenge your balance and coordination.

Improve your ability to control movement when you’re fatigued.

Reinforce the connection between your breath, core, and movement.

Carry over strength into everyday activities and heavier lifts.

The goal isn’t just to make your core tired. It’s to teach it to do its job when your body is challenged.

Train for strength. Finish with control. Move better in and out of the gym.

Some of the movements we do at Form + Function might look a little weird at first, but there’s a reason behind them. 👀

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) is rooted in how we naturally develop movement as babies. Before we walk, run, lift or jump, we learn how to breathe, stabilize our core, coordinate our limbs and control our bodies through fundamental movement patterns.

DNS uses these developmental positions to help us:
Build core stability from the inside out.
- Improve coordination and body awareness.
- Develop better breathing and pressure management.
- Create a foundation for more efficient movement.
- Improve how we transfer strength into everyday activities and training.

That’s why you might find yourself crawling, rolling or holding some pretty unusual positions during a session with us. We’re not just making you do weird exercises. We’re helping you build the foundation for how you move.

Strong movement starts with the basics. And sometimes, those basics look a little different than you’d expect.

What if movement wasn’t just about getting stronger or more flexible—but about helping your body feel safe, connected, and regulated?

Samanvaya is a movement experience designed to reconnect you with your body through a combination of mobility, core work, primal movement patterns, and somatic breathwork.

We’ll explore movement that challenges your coordination, encourages you to move in more natural and instinctive ways, and helps you build awareness of how your body moves and feels.

And we’ll finish with somatic breathwork—a chance to slow down, release tension, and shift out of “go, go, go” mode.

Because nervous system regulation doesn’t always have to mean sitting still and meditating.

Sometimes it looks like moving, playing, breathing, and reconnecting with your body.

Come move with us.
Come breathe.
Come back to yourself.

Samanvaya — movement for nervous system regulation.
