Wonky Warning! (like spooky warning but... for nerds)

This report dives deep into prescription drug pricing comparing Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs (a similar model for medication pricing as we use) to 13 companies 'usual' model. It shows estimates of almost 10% total cost savings without any medication optimization work. I think CVS stole our idea.

I keep seeing these stories about CVS’s brand spanking new invention of a “pharmacy focused pharmacy.” They frustrate me as so many community-based, locally-owned pharmacies like ours have been focused on patients and the pharmacist/patient relationship for literally decades. When we rebuilt our location in Glendale we pulled almost all of the shelves and created 7 spaces where a pharmacist and patient can meet/talk face to face. This story reminds me of when CVS finally stopped selling ci******es about 10 years ago (Walgreens, Kroger, Meijer etc are you listening?) as they decided they couldn’t brand as CVS Health and sell ci******es.
Both scenarios are “GOOD! Let’s focus on patients and health!!” And… why does CVS get millions of unpaid marketing for following their smaller competitors lead?
I know the answer of course so we will stay in the same mindset we’re also in; focused on being the best pharmacy for our patients and building a sustainable, transparent, direct pay model that scales across more and more patient lives.

If you see pharmacist today, tell them HAPPY WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY!

I’m often curious about how “days” like this get set up/celebrated. This one is “hosted” by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (known as FIP) and is on this date to mark their founding in 1912.

This year, FIP chose “empowering pharmacists for healthier futures” as the theme for today. Honestly, it’s a great theme for pharmacy across the US this year and a great theme for us at Day’s Pharmacy. We (the team) chose “we’re all about your health” as our company motto in 2020 and have continued to push ourselves and our profession so that we can be part of your health care team, not just the place you access prescription medications (we do that well of course!).

Thank you for letting us help you live healthier lives! If you’re not a Day’s Pharmacy patient and aren’t used to thinking about pharmacists as part of your care team, maybe today is the day to check out what we and so many others would love to do for and with you.
