After another successful FOUNDER’S FLING SALE this year, which ended yesterday, I want to take a second to bookend what our Founder’s Fling Sale is about and why we call it that..

At the beginning of the sale I spoke about my Aunt Sue and my mom Peggy.. today I want to highlight my guy, my mentor, my friend Tony. One of my favorite people of all time and someone who means a lot to me and my family. The original owner of Matt’s Natural World when it was known as Healthy Alternative. His birthday, like my mom and aunt, is also in October. So instead of our yearly “Fall Fling Sale”, as it was previously known, I choose to call it the “Founder’s Fling Sale” now and recognize the people that I have came from and the ones that have taught me so much.

Tony is certainly one of those. And maybe the biggest one. He taught me how to be a business man. Truly. In the best way possible. By caring for his people and being honest even when it is tough. He taught me to ride the waves. Ups and downs. He taught me to be kind to the ones that need it and firm with the ones that need it. There are a lot of both of those in business and especially our industry.

Tony is the type that would never want you to know the kind things he does and would for sure hate a post like this. (I’m sure I’ll hear about it when/if he gets to see it.. maybe don’t show it to him Belinda 😉) But he’s the type that gives an old (nice)truck to a young guy cause he knows he has a farm and “it’s just sitting around”. He’s the type that gives a guy with a history a second chance and never mentions it again when he knows that that was just a chapter in a long book. A guy that goes to bat with bankers for a guy that has trouble with bank paperwork questions. A guy that has shown me so many, so many kindnesses that I can’t put it into words.. all the while being the guy that will bust my chops at the drop of a hat. As will I. My brother from another mother!

A guy that when one of his two brothers passed away he opened a restaurant/wine retail store that is freaking amazing and named it after his brother and put pictures everywhere of his brother and family. That’s definitely some 💩 I would do.

The type of guy you strive to be and feel blessed to know.
About all I can say.. if I keep going I’ll never hear the end of it. lol

In honor of Peggy (10/13) and Susan’s (10/12) birthdays we are kicking off our annual “Founder’s Fling Sale” today and it will run through Sunday 10/18. Come see us this week and save some money!

Susan and Peggy have spent their lives helping others and we are proud to carry on this tradition in our store on a daily basis. From the Thomas’ before them to us now we all stand on the ladders built by the previous generations. Not a day goes by that we don’t recognize and honor that.
