Introducing..... the guiro! Believed to originate in Puerto Rico, the guiro is a scraper instrument that is played by scraping a stick against the ridges of the instrument. Although originally made of gourds, guiros are now made with wood or plastic!

One of my favorite instruments- the frog rasp (or guiro)! It looks and sounds just like a frog! 🐸 These can come in a variety of sizes that create a spectrum of pitches. This instrument originates in Thailand and Vietnam.
