How do you learn what it means to have a job?
By having the opportunity to try.
Work experiences give young people with developmental disabilities something a classroom alone can’t always provide: the chance to discover what they enjoy, practice workplace skills, build confidence and learn what employers expect.
Showing up on time.
Learning a task.
Asking questions.
Working with coworkers.
Helping customers.
Getting better at something through practice.
These experiences aren’t just preparation for employment.
They’re the beginning of seeing yourself as someone who can work, contribute and belong in the workplace.
That’s a pretty powerful first step.
