We had a great night at our last big shop event last Friday. TJ McBee had a sold out event and we were 1 shy of it. There were so many great folks and the vibe was perfect! tinagrayart and I will be sitting down with our calendars in the coming weeks and putting together our schedule for the year (there is only one Friday the 13th and we are going all out!) let us know what you might like to see us do and keep checking back for updates 😬

Did you know that a couple weekends ago, Curious Lotus Tattoo partnered with a group of like minded business to throw the first ever Carolina Creator fest?
We had 20+ vendors, live entertainment, 3 demo areas packed with demos throughout the day, live Raku firing all day, food trucks and snack vendors all ready for a great day. And then the rain that was scheduled to show up at 3pm arrived early…11am
I tell you what though, we still had a great time! A little more damp than we had planned but everybody was easy going about it. Some brave folks still showed up to shop and talk with creators. Kids played, folks danced, we handed out awards and came together as a community.
tinagrayart and I are so extremely lucky that we get to do what we do and that what we do allows us the joy of doing things like this. Doing things like this is one way we can say thank you to the community we have been a part of for many years.
If you missed this event or chose to stay home and stay dry (we don’t blame you) but you want to enjoy some of what we are getting up to, keep a look out for information on Tina’s book club, community gallery shows I am curating, fun events at the center that we are helping out with. This Friday, 9/25 tinagrayart and Char Hall will be celebrating the profound impact these two amazing artists have had on their own art. Come by the shop for a super fun day of tattooing and swapping stories about your favorite movies and songs. We have a bunch of premade designs for you to choose from at a variety of prices. As always, it’s first come first serve, arms and legs only, designs are as is, and we take cash, Venmo or Zelle 🪩 Hope to see you!

It’s hard to put into words just how excited we are to be working with a great group of folks to be putting on the first annual “Carolina Creator Fest” we are currently looking for creators from across the Carolinas to come vend, do demos and enjoy a great day of community and the arts. This is a vendor event created by folks who have vended so you know we have some good perks! Low cost, affordable booths available in 2 different sizes. Booth sitters if you need to use the restroom or if you are doing a demo. Cold water and snackies. Load in/load out helpers. Oh and some fun vendor prizes! (WHAT?!) so please, don’t hesitate to put in your application. We would love to work with you 😊

Some of you have heard the chatter and we are here to confirm that we sign the lease next week for our new space. And though our move isn’t a big one, this bigger space is definitely a big deal to us! It’s going to take us a bit to get the new space up to the standards you know and love so in the meantime, all appointments will be in the usual spot. If y’all have any questions, feel free to reach out, otherwise check back here for updates!
Oh, also… no matter where you are coming from, we are moving closer to you. We are moving into the room closer to the stairs 😬

Last week Curious Lotus partnered with the local art group “Tartar Sauce” to put on an event called “Special Sauce” an opportunity for artists of all experience levels to come and do some figure drawing with a live, costumed model! This event was free to anyone who wanted to participate and there were some more seasoned art veterans on hand to offer encouragement and advice to anyone that needed it 😊 if you are interested in trying your hand at figure drawing and enjoying some good company, our next event is Friday, March 27th from 6:30-8:30 and we will have more details as we get closer to the date.
