Clayton Community Garden Everyone in Clayton New Jersey is welcome to the Community Garden. This is our fourth growing season and we look forward to plenty more.

The Mission of the Clayton Community Garden is to create a shared vision, to work collaboratively, and to cultivate a place for individuals, families and friends to learn about and experience the rewards of gardening. Our garden will foster community service, educate our youth and build a sense of affiliation and commitment among residents, businesses and local veterans alike. With an emphasis on organic gardening and nutritional education for all ages; we know that community gardening improves people’s quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, stimulating social interaction, encouraging self-reliance, beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious food, reducing family food budgets, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.

A couple of before and after from today’s cleanup. Thank you to the same people that show up all the time! Was really hoping to see some new faces. Appreciate Erica bringing out her family and some of her troop to help us out. Was way too wet to set up the pavers in the flower bed. Going to wait for that to dry out. It was an amazing season and hopefully we get some more people involved, in the work stages. Thank you for a wonderful season!!

Weather looks great for Saturday. May be a soggy start, but we really need as many hands as possible. Even if you stop by to say you enjoyed the garden this year. Especially, if you never made it out this year, come say hi and you would like to get more involved next year. Big news and announcements coming real soon. But, please stop by at noon this Saturday. We’ve all built this and we all need to continue to expand the garden.

Plenty of farms lowering prices on flowers. Feel free to get some plants to add to our garden. Plenty of room and they’ll come back year after year. Get some perennials and we’ll see you at noon on Saturday!!

Going to put the garden to rest this Saturday. What an amazing season we had. Just go through the photos. It was great and plenty of people were able to take home fresh vegetables. Hopefully, everyone can stop out and give a hand and just enjoy what we accomplished. Thank you to Erica and her Girls Scout Troop 67105 for volunteering to help us out. If any other organizations want to bring out their teams or members, we’d love to see you.

We have to clean up, move pavers, move river rock, plant bulbs and move mulch. This will get everything settled for the season.

PLEASE BRING EVERYONE! Saturday October 17 at noon! Especially, if you utilized it. Let’s just get together and call it a year.

Thank you to everyone that has been helping out at the garden all Season! Very special Thank You to Gary VanMeter Jr for coming out today and leveling out our flower bed. Check out S & G Wood Working and support his business! Huge Thank You to Steve Mathis, who has kept the garden spruced up all Summer. Special Thank You to Linda Labinski for all of the perennials in our garden.
Thank you to everyone reading this that’s going to show up tomorrow to help get these flowers in the flower bed before Fall Fest tomorrow! Now’s the time to show up and help out. See you at 8 AM. There’s about 2 hours of work. It’ll be less if we can get everyone to show up!!

Unfortunately, due to the amount of rain and being unable to secure the tractor tonight, we’re not going to be able to accomplish what we wanted to this evening. Keep everyone posted because I’d like to make a push for Friday night to straighten up for Saturday. Please, stay tuned.
