π THE MYTH OF BLAMING YOUR THYROID FOR LOW ENERGY AND HAIR LOSS
If your energy is low, your hair is falling out, and you feel off every day, it is understandable to suspect your thyroid.
This patient was convinced that was her problem. She followed the thyroid hacks she found online, but nothing was making a difference.
I explained that we needed to investigate the true root cause. Our first step was a thyroid panel to see whether her thyroid was even the problem.
π¬ WHAT VALUE HER LAB RESULTS ADDED
See picture.
Her thyroid results were all normal. It was one of the most beautiful thyroid profiles I had ever seen. I told her she should frame it and hang it on the wall!
She was trying to fix something that her results showed was functioning well. Her symptoms still needed answers, but continuing to focus on her thyroid was keeping us from looking elsewhere.
πΏ WHAT WE FOUND WHEN WE INVESTIGATED FURTHER
My subsequent evaluation identified gut dysfunction and concerns about nutrient absorption, including her B vitamins. This became the central focus of her program.
She was putting good nutrition into her body, but we needed to address whether her gut was absorbing those nutrients adequately. B vitamins help your cells turn food into energy, so taking more supplements without addressing digestion could leave the underlying problem unresolved.
Her dietary fat intake was also inadequate. We addressed that as part of her nutritional program because fat supplies essential fatty acids and helps your body absorb vitamins A, D, E, and K.
π HERE ARE FIVE KEY SUPPLEMENTS WE USED AND WHY
β’ Tributyrin: To support the intestinal lining as part of our work on gut function and nutrient absorption.
β’ GI Stability: To support beneficial gut bacteria and the intestinal environment, another priority in addressing her digestive concerns.
β’ Cataplex B: To provide B vitamins that support the processes your cells use to produce energy.
β’ Folic Acid B12: To support her folate and B12 needs, including healthy cell production and nutrient metabolism.
β’ Berberine Active: To support a healthy bowel environment and regular bowel function.
The gut support and B vitamins served different purposes. We were supporting her digestive function while also addressing her nutritional needs.
As she followed the personalized program I developed for her, things began getting better.
Her thyroid panel helped us change direction. Finding the root cause meant investigating why she felt unwell rather than continuing with an explanation her results did not support.
If you have been searching for answers about thyroid symptoms in women, hypothyroidism, Hashimotoβs, thyroid hair loss, or fatigue with normal thyroid tests, you understand how confusing this can feel. Low energy, thinning hair, brain fog, constipation, and difficulty losing weight can raise questions about thyroid health, but symptoms alone do not establish the cause.
A thyroid evaluation helps us assess whether an underactive thyroid is contributing. When the results are reassuring and you still feel unwell, investigating other causes matters. In this patientβs case, looking beyond her thyroid brought our attention to gut function, nutrient absorption, and her nutritional needs.
π IF YOUβRE STRUGGLING
If you have been trying to support your thyroid and still do not feel like yourself, I would love to hear your story. We can look at what you have already tried, what your testing shows, and what deserves further investigation.
