Despite popular opinion… BE TOO MUCH! It’s okayyyyy.
I still struggle with allowing myself to be the boss I know I can be. The leader I want to be. The woman who asks questions unapologetically, without hesitation or shame. The woman who takes up space without feeling the need to apologize for it.
As a wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, anesthesia provider who often practices solo, business owner, friend, educator, mentor… it’s effing hard not to lose yourself sometimes.
It’s hard to stand your ground. It’s hard to not take things personally. It’s hard to stop comparing yourself to everyone else. It’s hard to be confident in who you are while simultaneously questioning whether you’re doing enough, being enough, or giving enough.
And sometimes, it’s just hard to take it all.
I’ve been through more than I’m willing to admit or share to get where I am today. And you know what? I wouldn’t take back a single bit of it. The good, the bad, the heartbreaks, the failures, the lessons… all of it made me the fiery little chihuahua I am today. 🫣
I may be small, and it doesn’t always come out, but I’ve been known to bite a few ankles.
I’m still learning that being strong doesn’t mean I have to have it all figured out. That being a leader doesn’t mean everyone has to like me. That having a voice doesn’t make me difficult. And that setting boundaries doesn’t make me selfish.
I’m just here to say it’s okay.
It’s okay to be ambitious. To be emotional. To ask questions. To challenge things. To have big dreams and even bigger opinions. To be a work in progress while still being damn proud of how far you’ve come.
It’s okay to be a little loud, a little stubborn, a little sensitive, and a whole lot passionate.
You don’t have to make yourself smaller to make other people comfortable.
And maybe I’m writing this as much for myself as I am for anyone else who needs to hear it.
So here’s your reminder (and mine):
Be too much. Take up space. Ask the questions. Speak your mind. And stop apologizing for becoming the woman you’ve worked so damn hard to be.
Tribute to my baby girl to and this is her song!
