Ask a CLC presents: 20 Ways to Support the Breastfeeding Parent in Your Life
Day 19: Respect their choices and goals.
Every family's feeding journey is different. Some choose to breastfeed exclusively, pump, combine breast milk and formula, or use formula. Plans and goals may also change along the way, and each family deserves support without judgment.
Support Tip: Listen to what the breastfeeding parent wants and respect their decisions. And when others question or criticize their decisions, speak up and help ensure their voice is heard.
True support means respecting their choices, not making them feel they must justify them.

Ask a CLC presents: 20 Ways to Support the Breastfeeding Parent in Your Life 🍼
Day 17: Make time for self-care.
Caring for a newborn takes a lot of energy, and breastfeeding parents need care and support, too. Helping them make time for themselves is an important part of supporting the whole family.
Support Tip: Hold the baby while they shower, take older children to the park so they can nap, or encourage them to enjoy a little time for themselves. And if they’re experiencing physical or emotional health concerns, encourage them to reach out to a healthcare professional for support.
Self-care isn’t selfish. Helping a parent care for themselves is another way to care for their family.
