In this edition of Coffee and Conversation on Saturday, September 19th. â, we will discuss how going inward to center, ground, and quiet, allows us to go outward in the world in a calm, balanced, and wise way.

We have sensation, the physical feeling from something (vision, smell, taste, touch, hearing) happening to the body. We have perception, the psychological interpretation of sensation through experience. Our perceptions, the way we interpret information, leads to our experiences of the world.
âď¸
Interoception is to feel and understand what goes on internally. Exteroception is the perception of stimuli originating outside of the body. Proprioception is the unconscious perception of movement and spatial orientation arising from within the body, a sense of the position of parts to parts and the whole of the body. Nociception is the perception of pain and threat. All of this is to say that it can get complicated to see clearly and know. We understand that when sensory stimulation does not change, we stop attending to it. Checking our perceptions with others can be useful.
đ
In all of it, going inward is essential, so we may find stillness and listen. It can be tricky as there can be a fine line of going inward with introspection and isolation to tune out and not deal with the outer world. Yes, there is a lot here. We will go where the discussion leads, as always.
