🚨 ANAPHYLAXIS — the mnemonic that could save a life (and your exam)

One drug saves lives in anaphylaxis. Only one.
👉 IM ADRENALINE into the anterolateral thigh — NOW.
Not antihistamines. Not steroids.

Remember it with "A LIFE SAVER" 🧠

🅰️ A — ABCDE + call for help
🇱 L — Lay flat, legs up (never let them stand or walk!)
🇮 I — IM adrenaline, thigh, repeat at 5 min
🇫 F — Fluids for hypotension
🇪 E — Extra oxygen (high-flow)
🇸 S — Stop the trigger
🅰️ A — Adrenaline again → still failing = REFRACTORY
🇻 V — Venous access + monitoring
🇪 E — Escalate: adrenaline infusion + critical care (glucagon if on β-blockers)
🇷 R — Review: tryptase, observe, 2× auto-injectors, allergy referral
💊 DOSE (1:1000 IM):
▪️ Adult / >12 yrs → 500 mcg
▪️ 6–12 yrs → 300 mcg
▪️ 6 mo–6 yrs → 150 mcg
🔁 Repeat every 5 minutes if no response

❤️ ECG changes in hyperkalemia? Remember "Sine die" — it progresses to a sine wave!
Peaked T waves → Prolonged PR → Loss of P wave → Wide QRS → Sine wave → Asystole
Catch it early. Save a life. 🫀
