SNMA LMSA Case Western Reserve University Chapter

At Case, Student National Medical Association (SNMA) & Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) as a single organization. We have strength in numbers.

SNMA

The Student National Medical Association is the nation's oldest and largest student organization focused on the needs and concerns of medical students of color. Established in 1964, the over 8,000 member SNMA boasts over 40 years of service to underserved communities and medical students. The Case Western Reserve University SNMA chapter executive board and membership continually strive to be committed to furthering the mission of the Student National Medical Association. In addition to yearly programming addressing the needs of the community and issues related to minority health, we have longitudinal outreach programs in local schools and community centers. We also work with the admissions office in the recruitment of minority applicants, and provide academic support to current SNMA members by providing resources and organized academic sessions. LMSA

The LMSA has the vision to unify all Latino medical students into one organization, provide a voice for underrepresented medical students, actively promote recruitment and retention of Latino students at all levels, educate medical students on Latino health issues, advocate for the rights of Latinos in health care, provide leadership opportunities for Latinos, promote volunteerism in the Latino community

We were so grateful to have had the pleasure to work with some of our community this past Wednesday! High schoolers from Glenville High School joined us in collaboration with Intuitive Surgical to allow for them to get hands on experience with a Da Vinci robot! What a fantastic opportunity for people interested in a career in medicine!

Huge thanks to our M1 volunteers for making this event possible, we couldn’t have done it without your support!

Also big thanks to our fantastic e-board for organizing and planning this collaboration, engaging with our community is a core tenant of LMSA/SNMA!

Huge shoutout to our volunteers working with local Cleveland kids at the Future Shades of Medicine event!

LMSA/SNMA was able to partner with BSNA, LPN, and FPB to get involved in our community! Events ranged from teaching CPR to manual blood pressure, emphasizing cardiac anatomy and health throughout as a central theme!

It was so amazing to get to connect this morning with so many of our fantastic alumni! From our amazing co-presidents speeches to Dr. Haynie’s powerful remarks, every moment was filled with love and passion for the community we represent!

Huge thanks to all of the e-board for continuing to make these experiences possible, and a special thanks to all our CWRU physicians for supporting the next generation!

Huge thanks to Dr. Pablo Motta Texas Children's for showing a few of our students the ropes! What an amazing experience to get involved with pediatric cardiothoracic anesthesiology, something made possible by connecting with the greater LMSA/SNMA community and the providers that make it so special!

What an amazing experience Latino Medical Student Assoc. this year in Houston! From poster presentations to the gala, CWRU showed up in force with over 20 members from our chapter in attendance!

A huge thanks to Dr. Yepes-Rios for helping out with all of the administrative tasks and serving as a mentor and guide for all of our students, we couldn’t have done this without her!

Finally a big shout out to our e-board and co-president Nico for helping navigate the day to day in Houston, all the effort made a world of difference!
