Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care has been the community leader in end-of-life care for almost 42 years, founding the hospice movement in the Pikes Peak region in 1980. We are the only nonprofit, community-based hospice in El Paso and Teller Counties.Every year, we help over 2,000 patients and families navigate the challenges of a life-limiting illness with comfort, dignity and fulfillment. In a business like this, you don’t thrive for this long, nor serve as many patients as we have, without holding to a particular standard. Ours is simple: We believe that hospice care is about living and that every patient and family deserves consistent expert care and compassionate personal attention.

Strong teams are built through communication, understanding and a willingness to navigate challenges together.

Recently, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care welcomed Dr. Dwinita Mosby Tyler for her presentation, Leading Through Complexity: Strengthening Teams When the Work Gets Hard.

Dr. Mosby Tyler shared practical strategies for communicating effectively, navigating conflict, strengthening working relationships and supporting one another through change and uncertainty.

As the founder and Chief Catalyst of The Equity Project, a consulting firm focused on leadership, workplace culture, equity and inclusion, Dr. Mosby Tyler brings decades of experience helping organizations and their teams grow stronger.

We're grateful for opportunities like this to learn, grow and strengthen the relationships that help us provide compassionate care to our patients, families and community.

“Grief and love can coexist.”

A new Wind Phone now has a permanent home at Nancy Lewis Park, offering a quiet place for anyone who is grieving to pause, reflect and feel connected to someone they have lost.

The Wind Phone was dedicated during a gathering marking 30 years of partnership between the City of Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care. Located on the south side of the park’s pond, the installation includes a small bench and a simple screen that provides a measure of privacy for those who choose to use it.

Wind Phones began in Japan in 2010 and have since become part of an international movement. The disconnected phones offer a symbolic way for people to “converse” with loved ones who have died and continue a sense of connection through grief.

As Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation Executive Director Susan Edmondson shared at the dedication, “Wind Phones remind us that grief and love can coexist.”

We are grateful to the City of Colorado Springs, our donors and community partners for helping make this special place possible.

Those who care for others need care, too.

Recently, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care Community Liaison Miriam Thomas visited Pikes Peak Post Acute to bring flowers and a signed card offering condolences after the loss of a longtime resident.

For those who work in elder care and hospice, relationships with residents and families can become deeply meaningful. When someone we have cared for over time passes away, that loss can be felt deeply by the entire care team.

Grief does not belong only to the family. The people who provide care, comfort and companionship experience loss, too, and they deserve the opportunity to grieve, remember and receive support.

A simple gesture of compassion can mean so much. We’re grateful to Miriam for recognizing the importance of supporting our partners in elder care during these difficult moments.

A portrait of love. ❤️

For Sally and her family, a recent family photo session was about much more than taking pictures. It was an opportunity to create new memories with her daughter Ruthie, a pediatric hospice patient at Pikes Peak Hospice.

Because Ruthie is immunocompromised, outings are rare. Thanks to Pikes Peak Hospice’s Making Memories program, photographer Allison Daniel was able to bring the experience to the family’s own front yard.

Today, those photographs sit on Sally’s piano and have been shared with grandparents and others who love Ruthie. They are a lasting reminder of a day filled with family, connection and love.

“Every time I look at them I am in awe,” Sally says. “My heart is so warm and comforted and overjoyed.”

We had some special visitors outside our Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care Inpatient Care Center yesterday. 🦌

For a little while, these beautiful visitors gave our staff, patients and families a chance to pause, take a breath and enjoy a much-needed nature break.

Moments like these are a wonderful reminder that comfort can come in many forms — sometimes in the quiet beauty of the world just outside our doors. 💚

Strong healthcare partnerships are built through connection and conversation.

Recently, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care Community Liaison Miriam Thomas hosted a physician luncheon with Dynamic Healthcare, creating an opportunity for their providers to connect with PPHPC Medical Director Dr. Melanie Stickrath.

Gatherings like these help healthcare professionals share perspectives, build relationships and strengthen the connections that ultimately benefit patients and families in our community.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with fellow healthcare professionals and continue building a strong network of compassionate care across the Pikes Peak region.

What a lovely afternoon at Aberdeen Ridge Senior Living Community!

In celebration of Assisted Living Week, Aberdeen Ridge hosted a special Tea Party for its residents, and Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care was honored to sponsor the event.

Our team provided the snacks and had the pleasure of helping serve residents as they gathered for an afternoon of tea, treats and good company. Moments like these are a wonderful reminder that connection, companionship and community can bring so much meaning and joy to everyday life.

We are grateful to Aberdeen Ridge for inviting us to be part of this special celebration and for the opportunity to spend time with the residents and staff we are privileged to know and support.

At Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, being part of our community means showing up, building relationships and sharing meaningful moments along the way.

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care was proud to be part of the Colorado Springs Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 26, at Memorial Park.

The event brought thousands of people together to raise awareness and funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, and we were honored to join our community in support of this important cause.

Being an active part of our community is an important part of who we are at Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care. We believe that supporting the people we serve means showing up not only in times of need, but also at events that bring our community together, raise awareness and help create a more compassionate future for individuals and families affected by serious illness.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated and helped make this year's Walk to End Alzheimer’s such a meaningful community event.

Being part of our community means showing up.

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care was proud to have an information table at Sue’s Gift “Be O***y Aware” 3K Walk and 5K Run in downtown Colorado Springs. This annual community fundraiser brings people together to support Coloradans affected by seven types of gynecologic cancers.

Events like this are an important reminder that caring for our community goes beyond the services we provide. It means being present, building connections, sharing resources and standing alongside individuals and families facing difficult journeys.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with our neighbors, learn from others and support a cause that is making a difference for people across Colorado.

Thank you to Sue’s Gift for bringing our community together and for the important work you do to raise awareness and support those affected by gynecologic cancers.
