šāØ We're now officially back in the full swing of new routines & schedules. Kids are back in school, schedules get fuller, and the fall holiday season is around the corner. New schedules, new routines, new responsibilities, and stressors all at once. When so much of your day starts revolving around getting everyone where they need to be, eating and recovery can easily get pushed down the list, but they still deserve your attention and care.
For someone in eating disorder recovery, a busier season can sometimes bring old thoughts and behaviors back to the surface. You might feel pressure to eat more strictly, cut out certain foods, exercise to compensate, check the scale more often, or feel like you need to āmake upā for how you ate during the summer.
But a new routine doesn't have to come with new rules around food. Thereās a difference between creating structure that helps you eat consistently and creating strict rules that leave you feeling like you have to eat or move a certain way.
Supportive structure might look like packing a snack before a busy afternoon, keeping an easy dinner option at home, or setting aside time to eat when you know your schedule will be packed. The goal isn't to make your routine perfect...it's to make it easier to meet your body's needs when life gets busy. š„Ŗ
So as your schedule changes this season, consider what would actually make your routine more supportive: enough food, enough rest, enjoyable movement, and room for your life to happen without everything having to be done perfectly. š±
