Did you know its CARTOBER! Cartober is an online giving campaign held throughout the month of October to showcase the power of vehicle donations. Whether it's a car, truck, RV, motorcycle, or boat, Cartober encourages people to donate their unwanted vehicles to their favorite cause – like SKSF!. By donating a vehicle, people like you can make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families & caregivers.

There are several ways you can get involved in Cartober and support SKSF:

1. Donate Your Vehicle: If you have an unwanted car, truck, RV, motorcycle, or boat, consider donating it to SKSF during Cartober. Your vehicle donation will directly support our programs and mission. Visit https://sksfcolorado.org/vehicle-donation-program/ to learn more.

2. Spread the Word: Share info about Cartober on social media and encourage your friends and family to participate. Use the hashtag to join the conversation and raise awareness about the campaign.

Join us in celebrating the power of vehicle donations and making a difference in our community. Together, we can DRIVE IMAPACT and create a brighter future for all!

Did your fall child care plan fall apart? You're not the only family in that spot.

Families join Zach's Place throughout the year, and a mid-year start can go just as smoothly as one in August. We serve kids from age 2.5 through 18 in an inclusive program, and we're a licensed Colorado UPK provider for eligible 4-year-olds.

We’re sending a HUGE thank you to the Albertsons Safeway Foundation and our local Safeway stores for their generous grant supporting Zach’s Place! A huge thank you to everyone helping us keep our kitchen stocked! Fueling our kids with nutritious morning snacks, healthy lunches, and special dietary meals is a massive part of what we do during respite and after-school care at Zach’s Place at the Laurie Hillyard Family Center. Your support keeps our kids happy, healthy, and energized to thrive! We are so grateful for your partnership in making a difference in our community!

Respite care at Zach's Place isn't staffed by a separate on-call pool — it's the same educators your family already knows, just covering a different kind of day. Weekly breathing room, a week away, or a one-time gap while you're between arrangements: this is what we built it for. Read how families use it.

Respite care sounds like something you'd only reach for in an emergency. For most families who actually use it, it's closer to a regular tool: a scheduled afternoon each week, a few days of coverage while traveling, or a one-time break during a hard month. At

Is Universal Preschool (UPK) really free? At Zach's Place, UPK-funded seats sit in the same inclusive classrooms as every other seat — same staff, same structure, same daily routine. Curious if your child qualifies? Reach out to schedule a tour before fall seats fill up. 🍎

If you've heard the term "UPK" and aren't sure what it actually covers for your family, you're not alone. Colorado's Universal Preschool program promises free preschool hours to many families, but how those hours look in a real classroom depends entirely on where your

At Zach's Place, after-school isn't handed off to a different set of adults than the ones who taught your child all day. Same team, same building, same familiar faces — just extended into the afternoon. That kind of continuity matters, especially for kids who do best with consistency. Here's how our after-school program works.

The school day ends at 3 p.m. The workday doesn't. That gap is the entire reason after-school programs exist, and for most Colorado Springs families, closing that gap matters more than almost anything else the program
