You can feel fine and still have numbers that need attention. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar often have no symptoms until they’ve been a problem for a while.
Here are four to know:
Blood pressure: Under 120/80 is considered normal for most adults.
Cholesterol: Total under 200 is generally desirable. Your provider will also look at LDL (“bad”) and HDL (“good”).
Blood sugar: A fasting level under 100 is normal. An A1C under 5.7% is too.
BMI: 18.5 to 24.9 is the standard healthy range, though it’s only one piece of the picture.
Your ideal numbers can vary based on your age, family history, and health conditions, so these are general guides and not a diagnosis. The best way to know where you stand is to get checked.
