Celebrating Value and Talent! 👏

This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we're celebrating Brandon Bornn, who has worked at Cambridge Security Seals for over six years and recently reached an exciting milestone — earning his forklift operator certification! 🎉

Brandon is one of several individuals supported by The Arc Rockland who work at Cambridge Security Seals, each bringing their own skills, talents and contributions to the team.

Through The Arc Rockland's Supported Employment Program, 64 individuals are currently employed across 28 worksites throughout our local community!

Congratulations, Brandon, on your achievement, and thank you to Cambridge Security Seals for your continued partnership and commitment to inclusive employment!

As the fall season kicks into full swing, we are also heading into another budget year, meaning it is more important now than ever to understand what the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) system needs.

This year, we are calling for a 3.4% Targeted Inflationary Increase, a CareForce Wage Investment, and the restoration of the Healthcare Enhancement Program.

Together, these investments will help providers retain skilled staff, keep up with rising costs and health care expenses, and ensure that people with I/DD can continue to receive the services and supports they rely on.

Throughout the month, we’re celebrating the talents, contributions and value that people with disabilities bring to workplaces throughout our community.

At The Arc Rockland, we’re proud to support people in finding meaningful employment, developing their skills and succeeding in the workplace — and proud to partner with local employers who recognize the value of an inclusive workforce.

As an EmployAbility Inclusive Workforce Pledge member, we remain committed to creating opportunities and helping build workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and succeed.

Throughout October, we’ll be highlighting some of the employees and employer partners who help bring that commitment to life.

Congratulations, Andrew!

We’re proud to celebrate Andrew Dodge, whose painting, The Look, earned 2nd place in the Landscape & Realism category in The Arc New York’s 2026 statewide art showcase!

This year, 326 artists from Chapters across New York State shared their creativity, perspectives and talents, making this recognition even more special.

And The Look has already found the perfect home! The person who purchased Andrew’s painting said it immediately reminded them of Frannie, their brother’s family dog, and they knew they had to give it to them. 🐾 We love the photo they shared of Frannie and their niece with Andrew’s artwork!

Andrew’s creativity has also been making its mark here at The Arc Rockland. His artwork was featured on the cards given to guests at A Taste of Rockland and was selected as the image representing our Aging in Place campaign.

Congratulations, Andrew, on this well-deserved recognition — and congratulations to all of this year’s winners and participating artists from across The Arc New York! 👏🎨
