More information isn't always the answer.

When you're dealing with neuropathy, it's really easy to fall into this trap:
You read about a supplement → order it.
Hear sugar causes inflammation → completely overhaul your diet.
See an exercise for neuropathy → start doing it every day.
Someone recommends a device → research that for three hours.
Then somebody mentions nerve glides, red light, compression socks, magnesium, B vitamins...
😵‍💫

Before long, you have 17 things you're supposed to be doing and no idea which ones actually matter for YOU.

One of the most important things I teach is:
Start with the foundations.
Look at where you are now.
Identify the areas that may need support.
Choose one or two changes.
Practice them consistently.
Then build.
You don't need a perfect neuropathy routine.
You need a plan you can actually follow.
Small changes done consistently can be far more useful than an elaborate plan that lasts four days.

What's ONE healthy habit you could focus on this week?

🎗️ “You should just be grateful you're alive.”
Have you ever felt that way after cancer treatment?

Maybe no one actually said those words to you. But perhaps you've felt guilty for complaining about the burning in your feet, the numbness in your hands, or the balance problems that make everyday activities harder.

After all, you survived cancer. Shouldn't that be enough?

💙 Here's what I want you to know: Gratitude and grief can exist at the same time.

You can be incredibly thankful for the treatment that saved your life AND still mourn the changes that treatment caused.

You can appreciate your oncology team AND still be frustrated that your neuropathy hasn't improved.

You can celebrate surviving cancer AND still want to feel better, move better, and enjoy your life.

Those feelings are not mutually exclusive.

For many cancer survivors, Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN) doesn't simply disappear when chemotherapy ends.

And the challenges go far beyond burning or tingling feet.
They can affect your sleep, your balance, your confidence, your independence, and your ability to do the things you love.

🎥 In Video 2 of my CIPN series, we're talking about:
✅ Why neuropathy can persist long after chemotherapy
✅ The physical and emotional challenges of cancer survivorship
✅ Why quality of life matters just as much after treatment
✅ How we can begin shifting the focus toward improving function and managing symptoms

If there were one simple answer to neuropathy, I probably wouldn't be doing what I do.

As a physical therapist, I was trained to look at movement, strength, balance, mobility, and function.

But after years of working with people living with chronic pain and neuropathy, I've learned that I also need to ask about things like:
💧 Hydration
🥗 Nutrition
🩸 Blood sugar
😴 Sleep
🧠 Stress and the nervous system
🔥 Inflammation
🚶 Movement and activity
⚡ And how the nervous system is processing pain

Because people aren't a collection of individual body parts.

Everything affects everything.

That's why my approach isn't about choosing between conventional care, lifestyle changes, rehabilitation, or tools like Calmare Scrambler Therapy.

It's about asking:
What does THIS person need?

Sometimes the answer is one thing.

More often, it's a combination of small, strategic pieces working together.

And that is exactly why I am teaching my masterclass, The 5 Foundations of a Neuropathy Reset next Tuesday at 7:00 PM EST.

This is why I talk so much about life beyond the pain scale. 💗

When someone comes to me with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, of course I want to know about their pain, numbness, tingling, and sensitivity.

But I also want to know:
What has neuropathy taken away from you?
Maybe it's wearing your favorite shoes.
Cooking without struggling with your hands.
Walking without constantly watching your feet.
Sleeping through the night.
Driving.
Traveling.
Or simply feeling confident in your own body again.

Those are the changes that matter.

This is one of the stories I'm grateful to be able to share from someone I've worked with who was dealing with neuropathy after chemotherapy.

Every person's situation and response to treatment is different, and no single approach is right for everyone.

But stories like this are exactly why I believe we shouldn't automatically assume that persistent neuropathy means there's nothing left to explore.

Life after cancer treatment deserves attention, too!

Let's have a little Fall Fun!

October is National Chili Month - How do you like your chili?

Do you like your chili hot and spicy?

Do you go meatless and add lots of beans?

Do you have a secret ingredient you add that makes it stand out?

Post your favorite kind of chili in the comments because I’m looking for a new recipe!

“If chemotherapy caused my neuropathy and chemotherapy is over…why isn't the neuropathy gone?”

This is such an important question.

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy occurs when certain chemotherapy drugs damage peripheral nerves—the nerves outside your brain and spinal cord.

Stopping the medication that caused the injury doesn't necessarily mean those nerves immediately return to normal.

Nerve recovery can be slow, and for some people symptoms can persist.

But here's another piece I don't want us to overlook:

Once you've lived with neuropathy for months—or sometimes years—it may begin affecting much more than the nerves themselves.

Maybe you're moving less because walking hurts.
You're sleeping poorly because your feet burn at night.
You've lost strength or balance because you've become less active.
You're stressed because you're afraid of falling.
And suddenly we have several things affecting how you feel and function.

That's one reason my approach to neuropathy isn't:
“Find the one magic thing that fixes it.”

It's:
Let's understand what's happening and identify the different places where we may be able to help.

There's a big difference.

If you are struggling with CIPN what is your biggest struggle/worry? Comment below so we can encourage and support you!

🎗️ **Cancer Treatment Is Over… So Why Are Your Hands and Feet Still Hurting?**

For many cancer survivors, finishing chemotherapy is a huge milestone. But sometimes, the side effects don't end when treatment does.

Burning feet. Tingling fingers. Numbness. Balance problems. Or that strange sensation of walking around with socks on when you're actually barefoot.

These can all be symptoms of **Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN)**.

And for many survivors, these symptoms can continue long after chemotherapy is finished.

💙 **That's why I'm launching a new 5-part YouTube series dedicated to understanding and managing CIPN!**

In our first video, we're going back to the basics:

✅ What exactly is CIPN?

✅ Why does chemotherapy affect your nerves?

✅ What are the most common symptoms?

✅ Why do some people continue experiencing neuropathy after treatment?

As a physical therapist specializing in chronic pain and neuropathy, I believe understanding what's happening in your body is an important first step toward learning how to manage it.

And here's something I want every cancer survivor to hear:

**You can be grateful for successful cancer treatment AND still want help with the challenges it left behind.** ❤️

🎥 **Watch Video 1: What Is Chemo-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy?**

Over the next several videos, we'll explore practical strategies, an integrative approach to managing neuropathy, and where Scrambler Therapy may fit into the picture.

💬 **Do you know someone struggling with neuropathy after chemotherapy?** Please share this video with them. You never know who might need this information today.

I wish more people were prepared for this part of recovery.

Finishing cancer treatment is a HUGE milestone.

But for some people, there's an unexpected reality waiting on the other side:

The cancer treatment may be finished, but their body is still recovering from it.

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy can leave people dealing with numbness, tingling, burning, hypersensitivity, balance problems, weakness, or difficulty with everyday activities long after chemotherapy has ended.

And I think we need to talk about that more.

Not to take anything away from the celebration of survivorship—but because quality of life after cancer matters, too.

As a physical therapist, I'm interested in more than whether someone has completed treatment.

Can you walk confidently?
Can you sleep?
Can you tolerate shoes on your feet?
Can you use your hands for the things you enjoy?
Can you get back to the life you fought so hard to keep?

Surviving matters. And so does living well afterward. 💗

That's a conversation I want to keep having.

You don't need to change everything at once.

One of the biggest problems I see when people start researching neuropathy is information overload.
Take this supplement.
Never eat that food.
Do these exercises.
Try this device.
Eliminate 14 things from your diet.
😵‍💫 No wonder people don't know where to start.

I'm a much bigger believer in small, intentional changes that you can actually sustain.

That's why I created my 5-Day Neuropathy Reset Journal.

Over five days, I'll help you begin paying attention to some of the foundational habits that can influence how you feel—without asking you to completely overhaul your life by Monday morning.

Because sometimes the first step isn't finding another treatment.
It's slowing down long enough to understand what your body needs.
