Normal blood sugar doesn’t always tell the whole story.

Your fasting blood sugar is normal. Your A1C is normal. So you can’t have insulin resistance, right?

Not necessarily.

Most people know to ask about fasting blood sugar and A1C. But there’s another question worth asking:

How much insulin is your body producing to keep that blood sugar normal?

When cells become less responsive to insulin, the pancreas may compensate by producing more insulin. For a period of time, that extra insulin can help keep blood glucose in range.

That means glucose numbers may look reassuring while insulin is already working harder than expected.

That’s where fasting insulin can add metabolic context.

And there’s another lab marker you may not have heard of:

HOMA-IR.

HOMA-IR uses fasting insulin and fasting glucose to estimate insulin resistance. Instead of looking only at glucose, it helps evaluate the relationship between glucose and the insulin needed to manage it.

That distinction matters because insulin resistance may start developing before obvious glucose abnormalities show up.

• Abdominal fat
• Triglycerides
• Fatty liver
• Energy levels
• Difficulty losing weight

Don’t only ask, “What’s my blood sugar?”

Ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist whether fasting insulin and HOMA-IR make sense for your metabolic health picture.

Your A1c can look perfect — and your insulin can still be a mess.

Fasting insulin is one of the cheapest, most underordered labs there is, and it starts climbing years before your blood sugar ever moves. More than 8 in 10 people with prediabetes have no idea they have it (CDC).

Ask for three things on the same draw: fasting insulin + fasting glucose + A1c.

Standard lab "normal" runs 2–25 µIU/mL. Functional/optimal is 2–6, with under 5 being ideal. Normal ≠ optimal.

💛 Stellar phone presence (people can hear you smiling!)
💛 A professional appearance and demeanor
💛 A performance mindset — motivated by results and self-improvement
💛 Customer service, hospitality, sales, or service experience is a plus
💛 Bilingual is a plus!
We also prefer candidates able to pass a background screening and drug screen.
The details:
🕒 25 hours per week
💵 $11–$13/hour, depending on experience
