🦷💙 Dental Assisting Clinical Site Visits! 💙🦷

This week, TCAT Northwest Dental Assisting Instructor Teresa Cantrell had the opportunity to visit three clinical sites to check in on our students and see the skills and knowledge they are gaining through hands-on clinical experiences!

On Friday, September 25, the Dental Assisting and Administrative Office Technology (AOT) programs were grateful to welcome team members from Christ Community Health Services to our campus!

Our students participated in an informative session highlighting employment opportunities, career pathways, and the many healthcare and community services offered through Christ Community Health Services.

We are incredibly thankful to their team for taking the time to visit with our students, share their knowledge and expertise, answer questions, and provide valuable insight into opportunities available within their organization.

🎉 Welcome Week at TCAT Northwest! 🦷

This week, the TCAT Northwest Dental Assisting students had a great time participating in Welcome Week! Each day brought a different theme and another opportunity for our students to show their school spirit and have a little fun along the way.

Our themes included Mirror Day, Retro Throwback Day, Western Day, Red, White & Blue Day, and Team Day! 🤠🇺🇸

For Team Day, our class chose to do something especially meaningful. In recognition of Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week, we wore green to show our support for TEAM WHEELER — Weston and Maverick! 💚

It was wonderful to see our students get involved, dress up, and participate throughout the week. Activities like Welcome Week give our students an opportunity to build friendships, make memories, and enjoy being part of the TCAT Northwest family while working hard toward their future careers.

We loved seeing their creativity and school spirit all week long! 💙🦷

🦷🩻 Learning Radiology Hands-On!

Over the past few weeks, our Dental Assisting students have been busy learning dental radiology and practicing the correct placement and positioning for both intraoral and extraoral radiographs!

From learning proper receptor placement and patient positioning to understanding radiation safety and equipment alignment, our students are gaining valuable hands-on experience that will prepare them for the dental office.

We love watching their knowledge, skills, and confidence grow as they continue preparing for their future careers in dental assisting! 🦷💙

Today, our TCAT Northwest Dental Assisting and Administrative Office Technology students had the opportunity to participate in Darkness to Light: Stewards of Children® training through the Carl Perkins Center. 💙

A special thank you to Suelynn for sharing her time, knowledge, and expertise with our students! This valuable training helps prepare our future healthcare professionals to recognize warning signs, understand the importance of prevention, and know how to respond when a child may need help.

Today, the TCAT Northwest Dental Assisting students were honored to welcome guest speakers Jennifer Moran and Angie Franceschini with iTero. They generously shared their time and expertise by providing hands-on training in 3D intraoral scanning technology.

As digital dentistry continues to advance, experience with 3D scanning is an incredibly valuable skill for our students as they prepare to enter the dental workforce. We are grateful to Jennifer and Angie for investing in our students and providing them with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with technology they may encounter in their future dental careers.
