Tomorrow evening, we gather to remember. 🕯️🌼

What if creating space for those who have died could also help us feel more connected to the lives we’re living now?

Tomorrow’s "Open Circle: Death, Dying & Life" invites us to explore the meaning of sacred altars and the ways people across cultures and traditions honor, remember, and maintain connections with loved ones who have died.

Inspired by traditions such as Mexico’s Día de Mu***os, we’ll reflect on the role of remembrance, ritual, and the meaningful objects that help keep memories alive. Photographs, flowers, candles, treasured belongings, favorite foods, each can hold a story, a relationship, a piece of someone we carry with us.

Together, we’ll explore what makes a space sacred, how personal and cultural traditions shape the way we remember, and what we might learn by approaching these practices with curiosity, respect, and an open heart.

You’re invited to bring an object, photograph, or small meaningful item that reminds you of someone who has died, if you feel comfortable doing so. There is no expectation to share, and simply listening is always welcome.

Let’s make room for the stories, the traditions, the love, and the ways we continue to remember.

🍂 You've been thinking about everyone else. What about you?

As the holidays approach, the lists begin to grow. Gifts to find. Meals to prepare. Gatherings to plan. People to care for. So many little things that become big things, and so many ways we show the people we love that they matter.

But somewhere in the giving, the planning, and the doing, it's easy to put ourselves at the bottom of the list.

So here's a question worth sitting with:
What would it look like to make space for yourself, too?

Not another obligation. Not another thing to accomplish. Just time to breathe, rest, reconnect, and remember the parts of yourself that can become quiet when life gets busy.

This January, give yourself permission to step away from the noise and into the mountains.

❄️ RECLAIM: A Winter Mountain Retreat

Four days of nature, nourishing meals, guided workshops, sound baths, meditation, creative exploration, meaningful connection, and time to simply be.

A chance to let the holiday rush settle, turn inward, and reconnect with what matters to you—not just the roles you fill or the people who depend on you, but the person you are beneath it all.

You spend so much of the year showing up for others. What if you made a little room to show up for yourself?

🏔️ January 7-11 2027 | 4 Days | North GA Mountains

Registration is open. Private and shared rooms are available, with limited space. A connection call is required to discuss retreat details, costs, and lodging availability.

WHAT IF YOUR STORY COULD BE SEEN—WITHOUT HAVING TO FIND ALL THE WORDS?

Introducing SKIN & STORY — a new expressive art experience where the body becomes the canvas and lived experience becomes art.

We all carry stories.

Pain. Loss. Grief. Illness. Survival. Identity. Love. Resilience. Transformation. Becoming.

Through color, symbol, shape, texture and body painting, you are invited to explore what they carry and choose what they want to bring into view.

This isn't about recreating trauma or making pain beautiful.

It's about expression, choice, agency, and being witnessed.

You choose the story.
You choose what is shared.
You choose what is painted.
You choose what remains yours.

No artistic experience is needed. No perfect words are required.

Just curiosity, courage, and a willingness to explore what your story might look like on the body.

The body is the canvas.
The story is the art.
You are the artist.

❄️ RECLAIM: A Winter Mountain Retreat

Registration is now open.

As the seasons change, we’re invited to slow down, turn inward, and make space for what comes next. As the temperature and leaves begin to fall, days become shorter, and the holidays right around the corner, I invite you to pause, to ask yourself, what you need for yourself first, before you give to others. What could winter look like for you, if rest and remembrance invited you to reclaim yourself?

This January, LifElevated Wellness invites you into the North Georgia mountains for an intimate four-day retreat centered around rest, reflection, reconnection, and renewal.

Inspired by the wisdom of winter and the changing seasons within us, RECLAIM offers an opportunity to slow down, turn inward, and create space for what matters.

A chance to step away from the pace of everyday life and give yourself room to breathe, listen, and simply be.

🌿 Your retreat experience includes:

- Guided workshops for reflection, discovery, and personal growth
- Immersive sound baths, guided meditations, somatic practices, breath work, creative exploration and nature immersion
- Nourishing, seasonally aligned meals thoughtfully prepared
- Time in nature and meaningful connection with others
- Space for rest, quiet, and unhurried moments

There will be space for conversation and community, as well as quiet moments to yourself. No rushing. No expectations to have it all figured out. Just an invitation to step away and reconnect with yourself.

What can we learn about death by listening to the wisdom of different cultures and traditions?

Across the world, people have developed their own ways of understanding death, remembering those who have died, grieving, celebrating, and continuing relationships with those who are no longer physically here.

Different religions.
Different cultures.
Different traditions.
Different ways of making meaning.

Each offers a doorway into a conversation that is deeply human.

As we move toward 'Día de Mu***os', we’re taking a moment to gently explore what we might learn from this rich Mexican tradition of remembering and honoring loved ones who have died.

Día de Mu***os is not simply a celebration of death. It is a tradition deeply connected to remembrance, family, love, and the continuing presence of those who have passed.

Altars, photographs, flowers, food, candles, and meaningful objects can become ways of remembering and welcoming loved ones into a shared space of remembrance.

There is something beautiful to pause with here.

What might change when we make room for remembering?

What happens when the people we have lost remain part of our stories, our traditions, and our lives?

And what might other cultures and traditions teach us about our own relationship with death?

This is not about taking or recreating traditions that aren't ours. It is about approaching them with **curiosity, respect, and humility, listening to what they can teach us while honoring the people, families, and communities who carry these traditions forward.

For our next Open Circle: Death, Dying & Life, we’ll open a conversation around remembrance, ritual, and the ways different cultures make space for those who have died.

And, as always, there will be room for different beliefs, experiences, questions, and perspectives.

Because there is more than one way to understand death.
And perhaps there is much we can learn by listening to one another.**

Tonight, we open the circle.

Tonight’s Open Circle: Death, Dying & Life is a space to slow down, get curious, and have some of the conversations we don’t always make room for.

No lecture.
No right answers.
No expectation to share.

Just an open conversation about life, death, dying, and the questions that live somewhere in between.

Maybe there’s something you’ve been thinking about.
A question you’ve never had a place to ask.
A story you’d like to share.
Or maybe you simply want to listen.

Come curious. Come as you are.

Thank you to everyone who gathered with us yesterday for Death Café.

Thank you for the stories shared, the questions asked, the laughter, the vulnerability, and just as importantly, the moments of listening.

Every gathering feels a little different because every person brings something different to the table.

A few words from yesterday that stayed with us ❤

“Aging is freeing"

”Why do we wait until someone has passed to have a 'Celebration of Life,' we should be celebrating them while they are here to enjoy it"

“Stuff, is the true enemy, purging items feels so good."

"The only thing that will save you in life, is a sense of humor."

“Life is short, eat the cake!"

And one of the most important questions brought to the table again this month "how do we invite our family and friends into these conversations, when they aren't comfortable with the topic of death?

These are the moments that remind us why we keep making space for these conversations.

Not because we have all the answers, but because there is something powerful about being able to speak openly, listen deeply, and discover that we are often not as alone in our questions as we may think.

October 17th 2pm EST: A Gathering to Remember

For our next Death Café, we’re creating something a little different.

We’ll gather to honor and celebrate the people and animals we have loved who have passed on and create a shared, sacred altar together.

You’re invited to bring something that helps tell the story of someone you carry with you:

📷 A photograph
🌿 A small piece of memorabilia
🌸 Flowers
🕯️ A meaningful object
💌 A letter, note, or something that reminds you of them

And yes, four-legged loved ones are absolutely included🐾❤

Our relationships with those we have lost don’t disappear when their lives end. They continue in stories, memories, traditions, photographs, objects, places, and the ways they changed us.

Together, we’ll create a community altar—a place to remember, honor, and celebrate the lives that have touched ours.

Until then, thank you for continuing to show up for these conversations.

Today is Death Café 🖤

And it feels meaningful to gather around the table again.

Since our last gathering, conversations may have continued in unexpected places. Maybe something someone shared stayed with you. Maybe a question followed you home. Maybe you found yourself having a conversation you hadn’t planned to have or thinking about something in a new way.

And maybe, somewhere in between then and now, life crossed paths with someone or something that brought you right back to a thought from our last gathering.

That’s part of what makes these conversations so interesting.

We come together for a few hours, but the conversation doesn’t necessarily end when we leave.

Today, we get to reconnect with familiar faces, welcome new ones, and see where the conversation takes us this time.

There will be questions.
There will be stories.
There will be different perspectives.
There will probably be a few surprises.

And, of course, cake 🍰

Come exactly as you are. You don’t need to have a story to tell or an answer to offer. You can share, listen, wonder, laugh, or simply be part of the conversation.

We’ll gather today.
We’ll see what unfolds.
And perhaps we’ll carry a little of the conversation with us when we leave.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

1 in 5.

The number of people who will be affected by mental illness in any given year. This person is sitting next to you. This person is living in your house. This person is a part of your family. This is you. Even if this disease is not yours to fight, you are impacted by knowing and loving someone who is.

A semicolon. A pause. An indication of connection between sentences. Often causing confusion yet important to empathize relationships. A pause to let the reader know there is more to the story.

The semicolon can be described as stronger than a comma but weaker than a period. An apt description. However the semicolon is more than just this. It continues the sentence where a period could be placed.

And I am stronger than depression and anxiety. I am more than what it tells me I am. It will not be my ending period. My disease makes me pause in my day. It makes me stop and care for myself. But it doesn't end me. I have more to my story. And so do you. Share it. Talk about it. Reveal it. Display it.

There is no shame. Don't let it become your end. Let it be a part of your story. One that you overcome everyday.

Support your 1 in 5. Show them that you see them. You hear them. You love them. Show them that their disease does not make them less of a person.

My name is Katie.

I am 1 in 5.
