Welcome baby girl, Isla Elizabeth!

Your birth was nothing short of ethereal.

The room was quiet, the warm lights dimmed low, a peaceful, welcoming, sacred space. Your mama Sydney Savage followed her instincts from the very first wave to the very last, so beautifully in tune with you.

And then, in one powerful, effortless moment (not easy, but so physiological and perfect) she reached down and guided you into her own hands in the birth pool, while your daddy ricky savage looked on in complete awe and love. Everyone held their breath until you took your first.

It was quiet. It was powerful. It was exactly as it was meant to be.

What an honor to witness and support such an instinctual, beautiful birth. Welcome to the world, sweet Isla.

If you only have 5 minutes a day to get ready for birth, this is the practice I teach my doula clients:

🩵 Minute 1: BREATHE

- Inhale slowly through your nose for 4 counts, exhale through your mouth for 8 counts.
- Unclench your jaw. Let your shoulders drop. Soften your hands and your whole body.
- This long exhale is a cue to your nervous system that you are safe and can let go, exactly what your body needs to do in labor.

🩵 Minute 2: VISUALIZE

- Close your eyes and picture yourself in labor…calm, grounded, and supported.
- See yourself riding the wave of a contraction instead of fighting it. Breathing through the intensity.
- Picture the people supporting you, the safety around you, and that moment you finally meet your baby.

🩵 Minute 3: AFFIRM

Your brain believes what you tell it on repeat. Say it out loud or in your head:

“I can do hard things.”
“My body knows how to birth my baby.”
“I am held, I am safe, I am not alone.”
“Each wave brings me closer to holding my baby.”

🩵 Minutes 4 & 5: RELEASE

Grab a notebook and quickly jot down:

- How you’re feeling today, but no filter.
- One thought or fear you’re ready to let go of.
- One thing that makes you feel more calm, safe, or confident about your birth.

➡️ Your mindset and your nervous system shape how birth feels and unfolds. Mental preparation isn’t extra, it’s essential.

⭐️ Save this for your daily 5-minute reset in the last weeks of pregnancy and come back to it whenever you need to ground yourself.

Most people think when they hire a doula they’re just getting someone to help them write a birth plan and hold their water bottle during labor.

And yes, I’ll absolutely be there to help keep you hydrated during labor and to help you nail down your birth vision. But it’s so much deeper than that.

When you invite Bonded Births into your birth space, you’re getting a steady presence, an evidence-based educator, a fierce advocate, and someone who will be right there to hold space for all of it…the blood, sweat, tears, and joy.

PART TWO - Micah James

Welcome baby boy, Micah James!

Part two of a story that all unfolded in one day.

An hour and a half down the road, as another sweet baby was being born, your mama was in the thick of her own long, powerful labor! Four hours of the most courageous, determined pushing I’ve ever witnessed.

I had called in my trusted backup to hold space for your family while I was with the other laboring mom, and the moment he was safely in his mama’s arms, I booked it to you.

An hour and a half drive, hoping with every mile I’d make it in time. And I did - I walked in to relieve my backup and be by your mama Vanessa Stoll and daddy’s side as you made your beautiful entrance, in your own perfect way.

Your daddy was unwavering, never leaving her side through every turn. And your mama gave you everything she had, a kind of determination and strength I’ll never forget!

The universe’s plans are always more beautiful than our own, and your arrival was nothing short of beautiful, sweet boy.

Such a fun, happy, loving family to support! You are so incredibly loved, Micah.

Two beautiful boys, born on the same day, to two amazing mamas. What an honor to be there for both.

PART ONE - August Lennon

Welcome earthside, August Lennon!

What a journey it’s been to get to you, sweet boy. This pregnancy held so many highs and lows for your mama and daddy (a true rollercoaster of emotions) but you, August, stayed your happy go-lucky self through it all.

And your mama? Brook Jolliffe Robbins She labored so beautifully and then made pushing look absolutely effortless. I will never forget her face the moment you were in her arms, looking at you with pure wonder and saying, “I could do that again!” Completely enamored with you from the very first second.

I love supporting families that already feel like friends, and you three certainly felt that way from the start. Such an honor to walk alongside you.

What your mama and daddy didn’t know is that as you were making your way earthside, another mama I love was laboring an hour and a half away, giving everything she had for her sweet boy. Two babies, two mamas, one incredible day.

August, you were first, and you set the remainder of my day on a trajectory of so much joy!
