Falls prevention is more fun with company. The Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) partners with communities across Montana to offer low-cost or free workshops, including:

• Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL)
• Stepping On
• Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention

"Anyone with multiple risk factors, a previous history of falls, or a fear of falling is encouraged to attend a workshop," says Melissa Dale, DPHHS Falls Prevention Program Manager. "A few small modifications and practical lifestyle changes can make a life-changing difference."

Find a workshop near you: https://dphhs.mt.gov/publichealth/FallPrevention or call 1-844-684-5848.

September is Newborn Screening Awareness Month, and we’re celebrating the simple test that saves thousands of lives every single year. It’s a heel prick that checks for more than 30 serious but treatable health conditions. This screening gives babies the best chance at a healthy start by catching issues before symptoms even appear. Learn more about newborn screening here: https://newbornscreening.hrsa.gov/

Kratom is often marketed as “natural,” but natural does not always mean safe.

Unregulated kratom products can vary widely in strength and have been linked to:
⚠️ Dangerous side effects
⚠️ Dependency
⚠️ Risk of overdose

RiverStone Health’s role is to help ensure a safe and consistent food supply. Enforcing Montana’s Food Code, including the removal of kratom from food establishments, is one way we do that.

This is not a new policy, but a continuation of standards in place since 2015. We’re here to support businesses and provide reliable information to the community.
