"Whenever, wherever," CPR skills should always be there.

Cardiac arrest doesn’t follow a schedule, and lifesaving readiness shouldn’t either. Keep practicing, keep building confidence, and keep your skills ready to respond when every second counts.

Every second counts when sudden cardiac arrest happens.

This World Restart a Heart Day, we're sharing inspiring stories of survivors and rescuers whose lives were forever changed by immediate, high-quality CPR. These stories are a powerful reminder that the actions taken in the first few minutes can make all the difference. When more people are prepared to recognize cardiac arrest and respond with confidence, more lives can be saved.

Watch their stories, be inspired, and help spread awareness about the importance of CPR training and preparedness.

Did you know that women are less likely to receive CPR in public and continue to experience lower AED use?

For healthcare leaders and professionals, this disparity is a call to strengthen education, challenge misconceptions, and build greater confidence to act.

Call 911.
Start Hands-Only CPR.
Use an AED.

During Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, let’s turn awareness into readiness and help improve the response for every person, everywhere.

The first minute matters.

When sudden cardiac arrest occurs, recognizing the emergency and taking immediate action can help give someone a better chance of survival.

This Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, learn why recognition is the critical first link in the out-of-hospital Chain of Survival and how bystanders can help put the remaining links into motion.

When the call comes in, every second matters, and strong CPR skills can make a difference.

The Columbus Division of Fire needed a flexible way to help more than 1,600 firefighters maintain high-quality CPR skills without disrupting their ability to serve the community.

Through the Resuscitation Quality Improvement® (RQI®) program’s low-dose, high-frequency training model, team members strengthened their adult and infant CPR performance while fitting ongoing skills practice into demanding schedules.

See how flexible training, regular practice and performance data helped Columbus firefighters stay prepared when their community needed them most.

A Nation of Lifesavers can start right at home.

This Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, make sure everyone in your family has the skills and confidence to perform CPR when it matters most.

Learn CPR. Practice CPR. Talk about what to do in a cardiac emergency. Then encourage another family to do the same.

Together, we can build a Nation of Lifesavers, one prepared household at a time.

Survival from sudden cardiac arrest is a chain, and every link matters.

As we begin Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, we're reminded that saving a life takes more than one action. It takes a connected system of response, with each step building on the one before it:

🔗 Recognize cardiac arrest and activate the emergency response system
🔗 Begin early, high-quality CPR
🔗 Provide rapid defibrillation
🔗 Deliver advanced resuscitation
🔗 Provide coordinated post-cardiac arrest care
🔗 Support recovery

The image says it simply: Immediate bystander response can help save more lives. But that first response is also the beginning of something bigger.

Every link in the Chain of Survival represents an opportunity to strengthen readiness, improve the response to cardiac arrest, and give more people a chance of survival.

This month, let's raise awareness, encourage action, and continue building stronger links in the Chain of Survival, from the first person on the scene to the professionals providing continued care and recovery support.
