🚨 HE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST MALARIA... UNTIL HIS EYES TURNED YELLOW.** 🦟💛
Doctor, I thought the fever would go away."
That's what he told me.
It started like many malaria cases.
A fever.
Body aches.
Chills.
He bought some medication from a nearby pharmacy and stayed home, hoping he'd feel better in a day or two.
Then one morning...
He looked in the mirror.
His eyes had turned yellow.
That's when he knew something wasn't right.
Many people don't realize that malaria can cause jaundice, especially when the infection becomes severe.
Here's why.
The malaria parasite invades and destroys red blood cells. As these cells break down, they release large amounts of bilirubin—a yellow pigment. If the liver can't clear it fast enough, bilirubin builds up in the blood, and the eyes and skin begin to turn yellow.
In severe malaria, the liver itself may also become affected, making jaundice even worse.
🚨 Yellow eyes after a fever are NOT something to ignore.
They could be a sign that malaria is becoming life-threatening.
Watch out for these danger signs:
🔴 Persistent high fever
🔴 Yellow eyes or yellow skin
🔴 Dark or tea-colored urine
🔴 Extreme weakness
🔴 Confusion or difficulty waking up
🔴 Difficulty breathing
These symptoms require urgent medical attention.
💛 The biggest mistake is assuming every malaria infection is "just malaria." Severe malaria can damage the liver, kidneys, brain, and blood cells if treatment is delayed.
