I tell people I’m passionate about Myofunctional Therapy and airway treatments because I share their story. These are my readings. I realize not everyone may know what they are looking at. Let me see if I can explain...
This is a Pharyngometer reading. A tube that when you breathe through can measure the airway space from the teeth to the glotis.
Reading 1. My baseline reading before treatment, just breathing naturally.
Reading 2. Before treatment- a reading taken when I exhaled all the way. You can see the tube flattens when I exhaled fully. You can imagine what it did when I was sleeping and the muscles were relaxed!😧

Reading 3. Was my post treatment baseline. Treatment being #vivos DNA expansion appliance and #myofuntionaltherapy
Reading 4. Post treatment collapse reading. A reading taken when I exhale fully. No more collapse!🙌🏻

What does that mean for me?
#healthybreathing #goodsleep #nasalbreathing
It means waking before my alarm and feeling rested and awake! Less caffeine during the day! No #brainfog ! #moreenergy

Trust me when I say, it’s not that your getting older. It’s not just stress. Your sleep is essential to maintaining your health!

Repost from @tonguetiebabies using @RepostRegramApp - It’s essential to address oral dysfunction and restrictions as early as able, however this doesn’t mean that further assessment and intervention won’t be needed along the growth and development continuum. Often there are touch ups and oral issues to address along the way.
💜
This is another great reason to work with a knowledgeable team who can follow progress and make changes as necessary.

Determinants of probable sleep bruxism in a pediatric mixed dentition population: a multivariate analysis of mouth vs. nasal breathing, tongue mobility, and tonsil size

This is a study published to confirm the correlation between large tonsils, limited tongue mobility, and nasal obstruction in children who grind their teeth. Myofunctional Therapy helps treat all three of these things.💙

Repost from @mouthmusclememory using @RepostRegramApp - Repost from the amazing @drstevenlin Tight baby teeth and crooked teeth are signs there is dysfunction in our breathing or tongue forces that have to lined up just right for proper growth and development. Steps: Step 1 would be to make sure their lips are always sealed closed
Step 2: tongue should rest up in the palate. You could do myofunctional therapy and be assessed by a trained tie professional for tongue ties to help guide the tongue up.
Step 3: early intervention so if they already have tight baby teeth maybe a progressive ortho who will
Expand their palates at an early age. Or start them using a munchee every day. Or growth guide mouth guards at night but only for kids who will be compliant with wearing it every night.

A low tongue rest posture habit can be lasting even if the causative factors are corrected ie. Tongue tie has been released or nasal breathing has been established. Myofunctional therapy can help correct the tongue resting position - creating better habits for better health.

Me using the #myomunchee in conjunction with #invisalign -
The #munchee works the Orofacial muscles as well has helps to seat the aligners! Proper tongue placement and swallow function are important to progress orthodontic treatment as well as prevent ortho relapse! This is my phase 2 of treatment. I completed #vivos expansion treatment 3 months ago. I know breathe through my nose all day and all night! My sleep is amazing! I dream every night and I no longer feel the daytime fatigue and fog I grew use to! I can not recommend expansion and #myofuntionaltherapy enough for breathing and sleep dysfunction!

Repost from @balancedfaces using @RepostRegramApp - If you're not able to swallow, with your tongue pushing up to the roof of the mouth, there's a good chance you'll be looking at braces again in the future.

Swallowing, with the tongue pushing out towards the teeth, will move teeth. There's no way around it... the tongue always wins.

Myofunctional therapy gets to the root cause of tongue thrust, or incorrect swallow patterns. If you're considering braces, ask your orthodontist to check for a tongue thrust swallow pattern. It will make their job easier and you will have results that last a lifetime.

Protect your investment. Do the research.

Proper rest posture is super important for growth and development. The tongue should be unrestricted and easily rest fully on the palate with comfortable lips seal and nasal breathing. The results are good oral development, healthy airways, good sleep, happy tummies and much more!

#SleepFacts

Chronically losing sleep has the potential to cause many health problems. It can put you at an increased risk for diabetes, a weakened immune system, and high blood pressure. You might also have higher levels of cortisol —a stress hormone. This can lead to anger, depression, and even suicidal thoughts. In addition, drowsiness increases your risk of falling asleep behind the wheel and getting into an accident.

And, this is what it does to an adult.
Think about what happens to growing and developing babies and children who are chronically losing sleep due to poor sleep hygiene and poor sleep habits.

Parents, just as we wouldn’t feed our children junk food, we do not want to give them junk sleep. They need whole, healthy, unfragmented sleep cycles, and many more sleep cycles than we adults do!

Repost from @munchee_movement using @RepostRegramApp - HAS CHEWING BEEN OUTSOURCED?

Throughout history chewing motions impacted healthy biological development, growth, rest and resilience. Modern lifestyles of soft foods, reduced nutritional diversity and lack of exercise have removed many natural cues for healthy development. The muscles of the lips, tongue and jaw haven’t escaped the decline.

The natural growth forces generated from correct chewing make a big contribution to overall development. Chewing has been linked to facial development, correct swallow, normal digestion and even concentration and memory.

Signs your natural chewing power could be improved include symptoms like:
• Dribbling and drooling
• Mouth breathing
• Messy eating
• Malocclusions
• Poorconcentration
• Para-functional chewing and sucking habits

Munchee’s active chewing helps get the body’s natural function on track, helping with jaw and mouth strength, breathing, tongue posture and swallow. Reclaim your chewing power!

You must clean your filter! One of my very young patients gave me the example “like I clean my fish tank filter?” Yes! Your nose is designed to warm, moisten, and filter the air you breathe. Rinsing your 👃 is as important as brushing your teeth! Do them together.
