Two moms. Two completely different superpowers. One mission.

Meet Erin. Her daughter couldn't latch and she spent weeks of her life scrubbing pump parts in airport terminals and parking lots. That exhaustion turned into an obsession — plant fiber sourcing, fl**ge ergonomics, clean degradation. She is the science.

Meet Vanessa. She was pumping in a hot van between client meetings with no maternity leave and no real support. She struggled with postpartum and eventually gave up breastfeeding.

These experiences never leave you. But for Erin and Vanessa it made them find a solution.

One of us is obsessed with what it's made of.One of us is obsessed with how it gets to market.
Both know exactly what it feels like when the system fails you. Building in public isn't always pretty. But solving a problem that touched them — and millions of working moms just like them — makes every prototype worth it.

I’m Vanessa, Co-Founder of Pump for Joy. We’re building the first disposable, biodegradable breastmilk fl**ge helping moms to pump, toss and go about their day.

I saw a post yesterday that said we have 100 days left in 2026. So I figured over the next 99 days, we are making a goal to have 100 real conversations — with people in our network, mentors, moms, potential partners. Every conversation brings advice, feedback, and momentum toward our mission.

This is what building in public really looks like not just the wins, the whole process.

If you are an angel investor, mom
on a mission, VC or mentor specializing in Femtech or Maternal Health we’d love to connect for feedback or advice as we build our network.

Spotted another mom invention at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, Atlanta. Step ‘n Wash was invented by a Joi Sumpton, a flight attendant mom who struggled to hold her son over the sink to wash his hands.

The Step 'n Wash product officially launched in 2007 and is now installed in tens of thousands of public facilities worldwide.

Summer pumping requires a proactive game plan, and at Pump for Joy, we are here to make sure you feel supported every step of the way. Freshly expressed breast milk spoils within four hours at seventy-seven degrees Fahrenheit or higher, making proper chilling non-negotiable.

Infant feeding is frequently presented as an all-or-nothing choice. However, a significant number of families utilize combination feeding, not out of necessity, but as a deliberate choice to build a more equitable household structure.

Introducing a bottle early on allows for a distinct set of operational and emotional advantages for a developing family:

Active Partner Engagement: It allows non-lactating partners to participate directly in feeding rituals, fostering early bonding and establishing a shared distribution of caregiving labor from day one.

Strategic Asset Management: Combining methods allows lactating parents to preserve their pumped breast milk, building a secure reserve for future use, return-to-work transitions, or emergencies without the stress of maintaining an exclusive supply.

Protected Parental Wellness: Distributing the feeding schedule ensures that both parents can access consolidated sleep, reducing burnout and protecting maternal mental health.

At Pump For Joy, we believe maternal health innovation must support the diverse realities of modern family dynamics. Our biodegradable, single-use breast milk collection kits are designed to fit seamlessly into whatever routine a family establishes. Whether a parent pumps multiple times a day to build a deep freezer stash, or just once a day so their partner can take the night shift, the logistical friction remains the same: no one wants to spend their limited free time scrubbing plastic components. By eliminating the maintenance overhead of pumping, we give parents back the asset they need most: time to focus on their family and themselves.

At Pump for Joy, we love how babywearing fosters deep emotional attachment through constant physical closeness, helping your baby feel secure. It is a practical tool that doesn't leave a parent trapped in a bed or chair during contact naps. In 2026, sometimes the luxury of just holding your baby isn't there on a busy day, but babywearing allows parents to get things done while also bonding with their baby! Before they became business partners, both Erin and Vanessa lived the exact reality they are now fighting to change. They were the mothers trying to maintain a professional identity while pumping in cramped office closets, cars, and airport bathrooms, constantly watching the clock and worrying about sanitation.
