Some patients are motivated by tough love, but we don’t just have this rapport with our clients right out of the gate. We build trust, learn how our patients get motivated, and of course, have a little fun! Here at Kinetic, our patients often turn into friends & your physical therapy sessions reflect that 😎

Ever wondered how Kinetic came to be? We wanted to open a clinic where we could serve our athletes in our community the same way we did while working in professional sports.

There’s more to the story though, save this and come back for part II 👀

Happy National Physical Therapy Month!

For us, physical therapy is about so much more than rehab. It’s listening, encouraging, showing up for our community, and working together as a team with one goal in mind: helping people move, perform, and feel their best.

This month we’re celebrating the impact our PTs make everyday, and the hard work our patients put in both inside and outside the clinic. 👏

If your knee hurts when you squat, the squat probably isn’t the problem.

It’s how you’re performing it.

The knee is meant to handle load - but not all of it.

When the hips and surrounding muscles aren’t contributing effectively, more stress gets placed on the patellar tendon. Over time, that repeated overload leads to irritation and pain.

That’s why avoiding squats doesn’t fix it, and rest only helps temporarily. Because the underlying issue (how your body handles load) hasn’t changed.

Has squatting been bothering you? Let us know! At Kinetic Sports Medicine, we look at movement mechanics, strength distribution, and load tolerance. Then we adjust the plan based on what your body actually needs.

While we can’t necessarily bring a horse into the clinic for this equestrian athlete...we can get creative on how we create sports specific movements for their rehab!

Pairing this approach with frequent conversations with an athletes coach, can ensure everyone is on the same page and working together towards the same goal to get the athlete back to performance-ready 🐎

Fall athletes: you’re in it right now.

Spring athletes: this is your reminder that your season starts long before the first game.

The offseason is where you have the time to address the things that bothered you last season, build strength, improve capacity, and prepare your body for what you’ll ask of it next.

Whether you’re trying to stay healthy through football, soccer or volleyball season, or you’re already looking ahead to baseball in the spring, the work you put in now matters.

You don’t have to wait until something hurts to start preparing for what’s next. Schedule a complimentary consult with us today! kineticsmp.com 💪

Wait until *now*!

Injuries like this rarely get better with “just time”. Your body is probably asking for help if:

-You’re modifying workouts, practices, or everyday activities because of it
-It feels better with rest, but pain comes right back when you return to activity
-You’ve lost strength, mobility, and confidence in the injured area
-You’re avoiding certain movements because you’re worried you’ll make it worse

At Kinetic, the goal isn’t just for the pain to go away. It’s to rebuild the strength, mobility, and stability your ankle needs to handle what you want to get back to!

One rep caused a little discomfort, and the ones after it didn’t... so do you stop? 👀

Rehab isn’t always as simple as “if it hurts, stop.” We’re constantly looking at how symptoms respond, whether they change with movement, what happens rep to rep, and whether the body is tolerating the load we’re asking of it.

Sometimes we modify, sometimes we back off, and sometimes… we send it for 25 more.

That’s the difference between blindly pushing through pain and actually understanding what your body is telling you💪

Just a reminder... there’s no gold star for looking calm during a hard rep👀

Sometimes pushing your body is uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s frustrating. Sometimes it makes you laugh because you’re not really sure what else to do & that’s okay!

Everyone copes with discomfort differently. Some people get quiet, some people make faces, some people talk their way through it, and some people laugh through the entire thing.

There’s no “right” reaction when your body is working hard, and our job isn’t to judge the reaction. It’s to understand what you’re feeling, make sure the movement is appropriate, and help you keep moving forward safely.

So if nervous laughter is part of the process, you’re not the only one!
