πŸ’š More Than a Walk: Every Step Has a Story.

What does Walk with a Doc mean to you? πŸ‘Ÿ

Earlier this year, we asked our global Walk with a Doc community to share their experiences through our 2026 International Survey. And your responses reminded us of something special: Walk with a Doc is about so much more than physical activity.

It's about friendships formed, confidence gained, challenges overcome, and communities brought together. 🌎

From a 94-year-old walker celebrating their progress from half a mile to a full mile, to someone finding the motivation to become active again after losing a loved one, to the simple joy of meeting someone new and hearing their story, every experience is a reminder of why we walk together.

Whether you join us for the movement, the conversation, the health education, or simply the joy of being together, we're grateful you're part of this community. πŸ’™

Thank you to everyone who shared their stories in our survey. Your words remind us that sometimes the biggest impact of a walk goes far beyond the steps we take.

πŸ’¬ Now we'd love to hear from you! What does Walk with a Doc mean to you? Share your story in the comments!

πŸ’š It started with a walk. It became a community. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Since launching Walk with a Doc London in 2016, Lawrence Curtis has grown the program from one weekly walk to three, serving neighboring boroughs across London and bringing people together more than 150 times each year!

When asked what stands out most, his answer was immediate:

"The friendships that form over time."

Today, the group does much more than walk. They gather for exercise sessions, social outings, and community events, creating lasting connections among people from all walks of life.

One of Lawrence's favorite photos isn't from a walk at all. πŸ“Έ It's from a summer garden party hosted by two longtime participants. Around the table were people who had overcome cancer, recovered from stroke, lived with autism, ADHD, chronic illness, and other health challenges. What brought them together wasn't their diagnoses. It was Walk with a Doc.

"Walking in a group improves your social health, alongside the recognized physical and mental health benefits," Lawrence says.

"I love what I do. I love the people we meet. We also love the fact we are part of a worldwide walking initiative in Walk with a Doc."

From London to communities around the globe, it's a reminder that every walk has the power to build something much bigger than itself. πŸ’™

Thank you to Lawrence and the entire Walk with a Doc London community for showing us the power of walking together!

A little weird. A lot of wonderful. πŸ‘ŸπŸ’™

In his latest newsletter, Walk with a Doc founder Dr. David Sabgir shares a few thoughts about what makes our walking community so special.

From 92-year-olds racing four-year-olds to people from completely different walks of life coming together, Walk with a Doc has always been a little unconventional. And that's exactly what makes it wonderful!

As Dr. Sabgir puts it, "Walk with a Doc is a place to be yourself."

It's a place to show up in your favorite old T-shirt, bring your four-legged friend, make unexpected friendships, or simply find the courage to take those first few steps with a group cheering you on.

Because at the end of the day, it's about more than walking. It's about belonging, being yourself, and finding a community that welcomes you just as you are. πŸ’š

We're excited to share that Walk with a Doc was recently highlighted on the TED Health podcast!

In the episode "The Benefits of Nontraditional Healthcare," Dr. Charles Moore discusses the importance of bringing healthcare directly into communities and shares how programs like Walk with a Doc help connect patients and healthcare professionals outside traditional clinical settings.

In this week's newsletter, Dr. David Sabgir takes a little inspiration from Bob Ross to share a heartwarming (and heart-healthy!) story about the importance of listening to our bodies and recognizing when something just doesn't feel right. ❀️
