Women are asking. Clinicians are prescribing. Evidence gaps remain.

At the FDA’s workshop on testosterone use in menopausal women, one tension stood out: clinical use continues without an FDA-approved testosterone product for women.

Three takeaways from the discussion:
• Evidence is strongest for HSDD. Evidence for benefits in energy, mood, cognition, and musculoskeletal health need further study.
• A testosterone level alone does not diagnose a deficiency. Measurement and dosing remain challenging.
• Research needs meaningful patient outcomes, longer-term safety data, and broader patient representation.
