This Week at Care Synergy
It was another active and productive week across the Care Synergy Network. Here are a few highlights!
In Robert Jackson’s 35-year career behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler, he never once had an accident. But when an injury meant he could no longer drive, it was about much more than giving up a job. Driving had been such an important part of Robert’s life and identity, and he had to figure out what came next. Colorado PACE has helped him find that next chapter. Community education took center stage at Pathways this week. First, Natalie Petersen, Pathways Director of Business Development, presented “A Good Death Starts Before the End” as part of the UCHealth Aspen Club “Ducks in a Row” Education Series. Natalie’s presentation addressed the importance of planning ahead for serious illness and end-of-life care: https://caresynergynetwork.org/blog/18459/A-Good-Death-Starts-Before-the-End-Pathways-Shares-Expertise-With-the-Community Then, Pathways President Evan Hyatt welcomed 24 members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University to the Pathways main office for a course titled “Exploring Pathways Hospice, Palliative and Bereavement Care,” which gave participants an opportunity to learn more about hospice care, the hospice benefit and the support Pathways provides to patients and families: https://caresynergynetwork.org/blog/18468/Exploring-Hospice-Palliative-and-Bereavement-Care-Pathways-Welcomes-OLLI-at-CSU
Community was also at the forefront when Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care participated in the Colorado Springs Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 26. For PPHPC, being part of the Walk was an opportunity to stand alongside their friends and neighbors in support of an important cause: https://pikespeakhospice.org/blog/18470/Pikes-Peak-Hospice-Palliative-Care-joins-Colorado-Springs-Walk-to-End-Alzheimer-s
And finally, it was community connections that facilitated a donation of more than 40 handmade urns to The Denver Hospice for families in need, who can use these beautiful works of art as a final resting place for someone they love: https://caresynergynetwork.org/blog/18466/When-Community-Connections-Bring-Comfort-to-Hospice-Families
Thanks to everyone across the Care Synergy Network who continue to make this such an active and inspiring place to work!
