It’s the little things. Except they’re actually pretty big things. What’s the best green flag you’ve seen?

This is a stander (ep. 1).

We’re all about normalizing disability, and that includes the equipment that comes with it. So every week I’m showing you one piece of gear from our house and what it does.

A stander holds my daughter upright, strapped in at the feet, knees and hips, since she can’t stand on her own. Standing is good for her hips and legs, and it helps with bone density and blood flow.

What do you want to see next?

We say “disabled kid” on purpose. It’s called identity-first language, and it comes from the disabled community, not from us.

So we asked two disabled adults to explain it in their own words. Thank you, Leann and Teresa, for sharing it with us. 💚

Go follow and .teresa.n. We learn a lot from them.

Disabled people have favorite bands, same as anyone. A lot of the time they just don’t get to experience them.

Mason loves metal. So his dad, Richard, made it happen. He started a festival built around Mason, and the bands showed up for him.

What’s your kid into that you’ve had to find a way to make happen?

This is what packing for an outing looks like. Headphones. Crunchy snacks. Fidgets. A visual schedule. Diapers. None of it is a crutch. It’s the support that makes the day work.

The goal isn’t to need less support. It’s to have the support you need. 💚

Fall is here, and every kid has a verdict.

Favorite: crunchy leaves, hayrides, the one specific pumpkin. Hard no: itchy sweaters, pumkin guts.

What’s your kid’s favorite fall activity, and what’s a hard no?

Today is World Cerebral Palsy Day. My daughter has cerebral palsy, and I could tell you a lot about it. This year I asked her what she wanted you to know.

She answered on her AAC device using her head switches, along with some very clear yes and no nods.

Her list: pink and purple. Coco, in Spanish. Her Daisy vest. School. Being a big sister.

What would your kid put first on their own list?

I searched for it too. It didn't exist, which is why I created Youth Crews. Tab-style diapers in sizes 9, 10, and 11.

Not sure which size you need? The Sizing Pack has one of each. It's free, you just cover shipping.
