The Lyme Specialist Hi! I am Michelle McKeon, MS, CNS, LDN. Tick-borne infections and cancers are very complex, and there are so many pieces to the puzzle in the recovery process.

Our mission is to offer assistance to individuals world-wide battling Lyme disease and multi-system illnesses, providing trusted information on, integrative therapies, and hyperthermia as successful treatment options. I am Licensed Integrative Nutritionist, and Certified Mold Practitioner, specializing in tick-borne diseases, hyperthermia, environmental toxins, gut health, and inflammatory issues. At the Lyme Specialist
we guide both local and long-distance clients through addressing various factors that are causing their symptoms. We look for these answers through exploring mold mycotoxins, methylation issues, heavy metals, tick-borne infections, candida, cell membrane repair, parasites, nervous system regulation, diet, and gut flora. We also partner with in-patient hospitals that offer hyperthermia treatment for people with tick-borne infections and cancer. The Lyme Specialist is here to hold your hand through this experience. As a liaison between the doctors at these hospitals and the patients, we can assist in all your scheduling needs, and help you navigate which hospital is the best for you to receive treatment. Our hope is to support people in their healing journey by educating them about integrative medicine and hyperthermia as a successful treatment option. It does get better.

What Makes Heckel Hyperthermia Different?

Not all whole-body hyperthermia is performed the same way, and the technology and protocol matter.

The Heckel HT3000 uses water-filtered infrared-A (wIRA) technology to deliver radiant heat externally across the body. Instead, infrared energy penetrates the skin and underlying tissues, producing a gradual and controlled increase in core body temperature.

During fever-range whole-body hyperthermia, the goal is to recreate aspects of the body’s natural fever response in a carefully monitored clinical environment.

Controlled fever-range heating has been associated with increased tissue perfusion, muscle relaxation, and modulation of immune system.

🔥 Heckel HT3000
→ Water-filtered infrared-A (wIRA) technology
→ External radiant whole-body heating
→ Controlled fever-range temperatures
→ Continuous patient monitoring
→ Individualized treatment parameters
→ Designed to work as part of a broader therapeutic strategy

Hyperthermia isn’t simply about getting the body hot. The machine, temperature, duration, monitoring, and protocol all matter.

The HomeCleanse Guardian

What if you could actually know what’s happening with the air inside your home? 🏡

The HomeCleanse Guardian provides real-time indoor air quality monitoring, helping you keep an eye on things like:

• Air quality
• CO₂ levels
• VOCs
• Mold Index
• Humidity
• Wildfire smoke
• Various particulates
• V**e detection
• And more

One of the things I love most about having a system like this is the peace of mind. Instead of wondering what may be happening with your indoor air, you have a system continuously monitoring your home.

And if a problem does occur, whether that’s an increase in particulates from , elevated humidity, VOCs, or a change in your Mold Index, you can catch it early and take the appropriate steps before it becomes a bigger issue.

When it comes to maintaining a healthy home, early detection can make all the difference.

The Lyme Recode Program

Not all Lyme treatment programs are created equal, and knowing the right questions to ask BEFORE committing to treatment can make all the difference.

When considering an integrative Lyme treatment program, it’s important to look beyond the therapies being offered and understand the bigger picture.

🔹 Is your medical history thoroughly reviewed before treatment?

🔹 Is the program individualized and medically supervised?

🔹 How are treatments sequenced to support your immune system and overall recovery?

🔹 What does post-treatment care look like?

🔹 Are the expectations and potential outcomes clearly communicated?

Treatments such as therapeutic apheresis, T-regulatory cell therapy, and whole-body hyperthermia may be part of an integrative approach, but the timing, sequencing, and individual patient’s ability to tolerate treatment are just as important as the therapies themselves.

At The Lyme Specialist, we believe in treating the person, not just the pathogen. That means considering immune dysregulation, environmental exposures, co-infections, MCAS, and the body’s overall capacity to heal.

Whether you’re exploring the Lyme Re-code Program or another integrative treatment center, being informed and asking the right questions is an important part of advocating for your health.

✨ FREE WEBINAR: A New Approach to Complex Lyme Treatment ✨

I’m excited to be joining Immunotherapy Institute for a FREE webinar exploring three advanced therapies being used as part of their LYME re-code program:

🧬 T-Reg Therapy — using a patient’s own regulatory T cells to help restore balance to an immune system stuck in an inflammatory state

🩸 Therapeutic Apheresis — designed to reduce circulating inflammatory material and overall inflammatory burden

🔥 Heckel Whole-Body Hyperthermia — controlled, fever-range hyperthermia using infrared-A (wIRA) technology to influence immune signaling and support the body’s response

One of the things I’m most excited to discuss is why these therapies may complement one another, and the benefits of addressing complex chronic illness from different angles rather than relying on one treatment alone.

We’ll break down how each treatment works, why sequencing matters, who may be a candidate, and what makes this approach different.

Alpha-Gal Syndrome

Did you know a tick bite can trigger an allergy that goes far beyond eating red meat?
It’s called Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS), and it may be much more common than many people realize.

Alpha-gal (galactose-α-1,3-galactose) is a carbohydrate found in most non-primate mammals. In the United States, the development of Alpha-Gal Syndrome has been strongly associated with bites from the lone star tick.

But here’s something I think more people need to know:
🥩 It’s NOT just about meat.

Alpha-gal or mammalian-derived ingredients that may be relevant for some people with AGS can be found in or associated with:
• Beef, pork, lamb, venison and other mammalian meats
• Dairy products for some individuals
• Gelatin and collagen
• Gelatin capsules and certain medications
• Some vaccines and medical products
• Mammalian-derived enzymes and other pharmaceutical ingredients
• Certain cosmetics and personal-care products containing mammalian-derived ingredients

And sensitivity varies tremendously from person to person. Someone with AGS may tolerate certain mammalian-derived products while another person may react to much smaller or less obvious exposures.
Another thing that makes Alpha-Gal Syndrome so unusual?

⏰ The reaction can be DELAYED.
Unlike a typical food allergy that may cause symptoms shortly after eating, AGS symptoms commonly appear approximately 2–6 hours after exposure. That delay can make it incredibly difficult to connect symptoms back to something you ate or used earlier.

Symptoms may include:
→ Hives or itching
→ GI symptoms
→ Swelling
→ Difficulty breathing
→ Dizziness
→ Anaphylaxis

And this condition isn’t as rare as you might think.

More than 110,000 suspected cases were identified in the United States from 2010–2022, and the CDC estimated that as many as 450,000 Americans may have been affected.

This is another reason I believe tick education needs to go beyond Lyme disease.

A tick bite doesn’t only have the potential to transmit an infection, it can also alter the way your immune system responds to certain exposures.

A Bridge Home: Stability Before Permanence

When you’re dealing with mold illness, MCAS, or environmental sensitivities, finding the “perfect” home can start to feel like another full-time job.

But sometimes, you don’t need to find your forever home.

You just need a bridge home. 🏡

A bridge home is a temporary place that gives your body an opportunity to stabilize while you figure out what comes next.

It might be a furnished rental. An Airbnb. A family member’s home. A hotel. Or simply a space that isn’t perfect, but feels better than the environment you left.

After environmental illness, it’s easy to become hyperfocused on finding a home that checks EVERY box.

No mold.
No water damage.
Low VOCs.
Good indoor air quality.
The right humidity.
No concerning odors.
A clean HVAC system.
And for some, low EMFs.

Those things can absolutely matter. But searching for perfection while your body is highly reactive can also become incredibly overwhelming.

Sometimes the goal is simply:

Find somewhere your body feels safer.
Give yourself time to stabilize.
Learn what your biggest environmental triggers actually are.

And make the bigger decisions when you have more information.

Your bridge home doesn’t have to be where you stay.
It just needs to help you get from where you were to where you’re going. 🤍
