💭 SITTIN' NEATH THE WILLOW, DREAMIN' OF BYGONE DAYS..

Just peeking in to see how NORMAL the rest of y'all's childhoods were.. 🥸

What's something you thought was completely NORMAL growing up, only to discover later that not everybody did things that way, and perhaps your family was a wee bit..ABNORMAL? 🤨

Maybe your family had a peculiar supper tradition, a funny name for an everyday object, a household rule nobody ever questioned, or some unusual little habit passed down through generations! Maybe you ate something that made your friends look at you like you'd lost your marbles! Or perhaps there was some little saying your parents or grandparents ALWAYS used that you just assumed was part of everybody else's vocabulary, too! 🧐

Ain't it funny how we grow up thinking our little corner of the world is surely how everybody else's world works, also..

Until one day somebody looks at you and says..

"Waaait.......y'all did WHAT?!" 😂

I'll share a few of my own family's idiosyncrasies in the comments, and then I want to hear yours!

What's something from your childhood that you didn't realize was unusual until you got older?

OLIVE WOOD SERVING TRAY

Here's a pretty little piece that's just as useful as it is beautiful!

These handmade olive wood trays have five compartments, each with its own lovely, natural wood grain, making every tray unique! Approximate length is 14.5" and width is 7".

A little idea: Fill it with olives, cheeses, pickles, nuts, and other little nibbles for an easy appetizer spread when company comes calling! It's also a lovely gift for someone who enjoys hosting!

An Important Announcement Regarding Our Olde Tyme Market

It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of our 5th Annual Olde Tyme Market this year.

Due to church commitments that we are unable to reschedule, we have had to make the difficult decision to forgo this year's event.

This is certainly not a decision we have made lightly, as we dearly enjoy bringing together our community for a day of good food, handmade goods, old-fashioned fellowship, and supporting our local artisans and small businesses.

We are hopeful to return next year on Saturday, November 20, 2027, the weekend before Thanksgiving, and continue this much-loved tradition!

We sincerely apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause and are grateful for the understanding, encouragement, and support you have shown us over the years.

Thank you for your gracious understanding, and Lord willing, we'll see you next year! ❤️

Our 3rd Annual Pie Contest was a sweet success, and goodness, was it a CLOSE one! 😅

🥇 1st Place: Gena Sowells | Dark Chocolate Decadence

🥈 2nd Place: Katie Rooney | Lemon Meringue

🥉 3rd Place: Anna Langford | Spinach Pie

Every single pie was WONDERFUL, and the competition was mighty close! A BIG thank you to each of you who took the time to bake a pie and join in on a little old-fashioned fun today! Ya'll showed up, and ya'll showed out! We had 18 pies turned in! 🤎

And a special thank you to our judges, who didn't seem to have the slightest trouble volunteering for such a difficult job! 😂

NOW, COME GET YOU A SLICE (OR THREE)! 🤭

We've got some mighty fine pies waiting to be enjoyed, and proceeds from each slice go right back to the baker! So come treat yourself AND support the folks who put their hearts into baking!

I refuse to believe there are only a couple people around here who can bake a good pie! 😂🥧

Somewhere in Beauregard Parish there are apple pies, chocolate pies, coconut pies, buttermilk pies, pecan pies, and old handwritten family recipes just WAITING on their moment to once again shine! 💁🏼‍♀️✨️

Tomorrow is that moment..

You do not need fancy lattice work or bakery-level decorating.. If your pie TASTE good, you have every bit as much chance as anybody else!

And there are THREE prizes up for grabs:

This contest is meant to be simple, old-fashioned FUN, and we would dearly love to keep making it part of our fall anniversary tradition each year.. But traditions need people willing to jump in and make them happen! 💥
