Clocks fell back this weekend. If your sleep feels a little off, you're not alone.

Our November Vitamin of the Month is melatonin. Your body makes this hormone naturally to help regulate your sleep-wake cycle, and less daylight can throw that rhythm off.

A melatonin supplement may help you fall asleep, especially when your schedule shifts.

A few pharmacist tips:
• Start with a low dose. More isn't always better.
• Take it 30–60 minutes before bed.
• It's meant for short-term use. Trouble sleeping that lasts weeks is worth a conversation with your provider.
• Ask before giving melatonin to children, or if you take blood thinners, blood pressure medications, or other sleep aids.

Zinc tip from your pharmacist

You can find zinc in foods like oysters, beef, poultry, beans, nuts, and whole grains.

Taking a supplement? Keep these in mind:
- Some antibiotics don't absorb well when taken with zinc. Ask your pharmacist how to space them.
- More isn't always better. Taking too much zinc long term can cause other problems.
