On September 13, 1963, Mary Kay Ash opened a small storefront in Dallas with $5,000 of her own money, her son by her side, and nine Independent Beauty Consultants ready to begin.
I wonder if she had any idea what she had just started.
Because Mary Kay Ash didnโt simply open a store that sold skincare and lipstickโฆ

A door that said:
โจ You can build something of your own.
โจ You can contribute financially to your family.
โจ You can be recognized and rewarded for your hard work.
โจ You can grow in confidence and become a leader.
โจ You can help another woman believe more deeply in herself.
Sixty-three years later, I think about the countless women who have walked through that doorโand Iโm so grateful to be one of them.
I walked through it 27 years ago, and for 24 of those years, Iโve had the privilege of serving as an Independent Sales Director.
This โlittle lipstick businessโ has given me opportunities, friendships, experiences, and life lessons I never could have imagined when I began. It has stretched me, strengthened me, and allowed me to become a woman who helps other women discover what is possible for their lives.
But perhaps my favorite part is that what Mary Kay Ash believed all those years ago still happens in the simplest, most beautiful waysโฆ
Around kitchen tables.
During skincare appointments.
In team meetings.
Through encouraging texts between women.
And in those life-changing conversations when one woman looks at another and says:
โ๐ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐โand ๐ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฑ๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐.โ
One remarkable woman opened a door 63 years ago.
I will forever be grateful that I had the courage to walk through itโand I pray that I continue holding it open for many more women coming behind me.
Happy 63rd Anniversary, Mary Kay! ๐
One woman. One dream. Millions of lives forever changed.
