It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but this felt like a pretty good reason to.
This is how we’re celebrating the one-year anniversary of “Oh crap… Jen broke her back.”
One year, seven compression fractures, a multiple myeloma diagnosis, and a stem cell transplant later… hiking Hanging Lake—1,200 feet of elevation gain in just over a mile. 🥾❤️
There have been a lot of pieces to getting me moving again. Along with my medical treatment, I’ve stayed committed to taking care of my body—weekly chiropractic care, whole-food nutrition, Standard Process and MediHerb supplements, stretching, and walking every day as soon as I was able. Five physical therapy sessions also made a real difference, giving me the guidance, exercises, and confidence I needed to understand that progress would come from consistency—stretching, walking, moving, and showing up for myself every single day. One day and one step at a time.
But recovery has been about so much more than the physical part.
To our patients, friends, and family—the people who brought meals, drove me where I needed to go, sent messages, checked in, simply sat with me, and especially those who prayed for us and prayed with us—you helped carry us through some very difficult days. There really aren’t words to adequately thank everyone who showed up for us in so many different ways.
Through it all, we feel incredibly blessed to have had God beside us, giving us strength when we needed it most.
We are incredibly grateful to be here, doing this, one year later. ❤️
