Bound Tree Medical along with members of the EMS Community mourn the loss of a pioneer in pre-hospital medicine, Dr. Ray Fowler.
Prior to his passing, he was the James M. Atkins Distinguished Professor of Emergency Medical Services in the Department of Emergency Medicine, where he was professor of emergency medicine, EMS, and public health at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Dr. Fowler was committed to patient care, EMS education, and inspiring the next generation of leaders, according to the National Association of Emergency Medical Services Physicians (NAEMSP), a group Fowler was a founding member and the previous president of.
He served a long and notable career in caring for patients as a practicing emergency physician, an educator, an author, and an advocate to advance and improve emergency medical care within the hospital and EMS. He shaped the early beginnings of prehospital care and continued to do so for many decades afterward.
