We have big news here at First Light Tattoo & Gallery, and we want to share it with you!

We’d like to welcome Adrian Sparkman (Adrian sparkman) to the FLTG crew! Starting October 3rd, 2026, his books are currently open and he’s taking appointments.

I’ll let Adrian tell you about himself below! Check out his work and message him to book your appointments! (I will post his contact info at the bottom of the text)

“Hi, my name is Adrian Sparkman. I’m a professional tattoo artist, and I’ve been tattooing for 14 years.

I specialize in black and gray and color work that tells a story and can withstand the test of time. Those are really the only tattoos I like to do because I know they’ll heal well and last. making a mark that lasts forever and telling a story while I do it.

Four years ago, I decided to become a travel-based artist, and the last four years have been such a journey and an incredible learning experience. Traveling has allowed me to grow as an artist and see things in my own style that I never thought I could see before. It pushed me outside of what I knew and helped shape the artist I am today.

That being said, I’m happy to finally be putting down some roots in Dubuque, Iowa. I’m excited for this next chapter, and I can’t wait to meet new people, hear their stories, and help bring those stories to life on skin.

At the end of the day, that’s what tattooing has always been about for me—creating something meaningful that you can carry with you forever. my booking process is a general simple one so that I don’t cause too much stress to the client makes it easier to access me. I like it that way cause it’s a big complaint that I hear so I like to be available as much as possible for small, large or big scale work I’m really not picky with how and with what I book I generally just like it to have some significant meaning and or tell a story.
You can DM me or text me at 518-521-5259. Any questions or inquiries. I always answer pretty quickly. I always appreciate the support.”

Send Adrian a message on IG or his preferred contact method, text, at 518-521-5259.

Welcome to Iowa my friend! Welcome to the crew!

Again, I, myself, am not a holy man. But, I do love religious iconography. And, my new client has been dropping some serious knowledge on me about this kind of stuff. Though I don’t follow organized religion, it doesn’t escape me to learn about new things when I can. Below is a short description of the meaning behind this tattoo. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

“The Vulning Pelican”, or “Pelican in Her Piety”, is an ancient Christian symbol of sacrifice, resurrection, and unconditional love. Medieval tradition held that a mother pelican would pierce her own breast and feed her dying young with her blood, restoring them to life. The image became an allegory for Christ—wounded and shedding his own blood so that others might live—and was especially associated with the Crucifixion and the Eucharist. Though the legend isn’t based in actual pelican behavior, for centuries the image has represented the idea of giving oneself completely for the life of another.
