Unmute the Soul
Saturday, November 21 | 9 :00-1:00
A year or two ago, I started realizing something about myself. I had a voice, but I had lost touch with a part of my sound. Not the voice I use to teach, explain, or stand confidently in front of a classroom. I mean the sound that comes from somewhere deeper. The raw, primal, almost warrior cry that rises from the body rather than the mind.
My students know me as someone who can speak confidently and express myself. But when it came to making sound from the heart and deep gut of knowing, without thinking, filtering, or controlling it, I found myself stuck.
And I’ve come to understand there are reasons for that.
Breath and toning were introduced to me more than a decade ago, but lately, I’ve been exploring them in a much deeper way. I’ve intentionally put myself in spaces where toning was invited, and even then, I struggled to let go. Then, through my exploration of sound on Orcas Island, something began to crack open. I discovered that making sound could reach places inside me that words couldn’t touch.
It was personal. It was powerful. And it reminded me that sometimes the body has something to express that the mind cannot explain.
I’m deeply grateful to the people and spaces that have helped me explore this, and now I feel called to bring that experience into Screaming Octopus.
Unmute the Soul will weave together toning, sound, breathwork, energy release, and practices that invite a comfortable trance state. Drawing on my training in transcendental breathwork, circular breath, and other breath practices, we’ll create space to explore what happens when we stop controlling the sound and allow the body to lead.
This isn’t about singing. It isn’t about performance or making a beautiful sound. It’s about curiosity, vibration, breath, and giving yourself permission to explore the sounds that have been held back, silenced, or tucked away.
Sometimes we don’t realize how tightly we’ve been holding ourselves until something finally loosens.
I’m offering Unmute the Soul as both a group circle and a private experience, creating space for you to explore in the way that feels right for you.
