Is your posture causing the pain you’re experiencing?

We defer to various positions when sitting and standing. Whether we are on the couch, in the car, waiting in-line or doing the dishes. These postures can feel second nature and perfectly comfortable, however, they may actually be contributing to pain and tension in your body.

When we rest into a posture that relies on a chair or our ligaments versus our balanced and aligned bones and muscles, we can make the body accommodate and compensate.

This can allow for stretching of the ligaments, tightening of the soft tissues and fascia. The result is that when we do return to a typical upright stance in standing or sitting we can notice tugging and pulling, which may be perceived as pain and tightness.

The solution???
1) Recognizing how and when this is happening so we can create awareness around the habit.
2) Use effective techniques like Myofascial Release to relieve that pain and tension held in the soft and connective tissues.
3) Mindful movement - motion is lotion! Find ways to ensure you’re moving your body through exercise and stretching.

This may be surprising to you but the pelvis and the jaw are physically (and energetically) connected to one another!

Why does this matter?

When you we approach the body holistically, acknowledging that it is all connected, we can be inclusive during treatment. This means ensuring that we aren’t ignoring these connections and how the body may be storing tension, emotion, and trauma.

By bringing awareness to these valuable truths, we empower ourselves to heal and equip ourselves with the tools we need to do so in a sustainable way.

Neglecting part of ourselves can allow for an undercurrent of tension to remain unaddressed which can inhibit complete release and restoration of function.

An important component of treatment is being open and curious about your body - physically and energetically. By giving yourself permission to learn and let go of patterns, we can make space for all we wish to bring into balance.

See how Jane examines the pelvic floor during an assessment. Here, she uses a model to show the anatomy of the pelvic floor and pelvis on a female.

During an evaluation, Jane checks for strength and endurance of the pelvic floor by manually testing the area. Sometimes, she may find that the pelvic floor muscles are weak, other times she may find restrictions, causing the muscles to spasm.

Having a detailed understanding of what is happening in the region allows for her to approach the patient accurately. Whether it’s focusing on releasing tension, or building stability, addressing these issues properly requires a full evaluation.

This assessment includes the lower spine, sacrum, and p***s bone. Are these joints moving and gliding properly? Is there limited range of motion or inflammation? These details help to paint the picture of what is happening and causing issues, whether it is pain, dysfunction, or both!

Jane has decades of experience helping patients heal and overcome issues like incontinence, pelvic pain, back pain, hip pain, painful in*******se, bowel issues, bladder issues, penal pain, pelvic organ prolapse, and more. Her expertise in Myofascial Release allows for her to treat her patients holistically, treating more than just the pelvis.

Jane is a certified pelvic floor rehab practitioner and is certified in pelvic floor physical therapy. She helps patients overcome incontinence, pelvic pain, painful in*******se, pelvic organ prolapse, and bowel issues.

All pelvic floor patients have an evaluation on their first visit to assess the condition of the pelvic floor. As a specialist with decades of experience, Jane has a process and approach that treats the patient holistically, with the goal of resolving their pain and dysfunction.

Many of these issues take years to develop. In order to treatment to be successful, it asks the patient to be open to process and committed to their healing. This means consistent treatment and at-home work to get on top of chronic symptoms and dysfunction.

In Jane’s next reel, she will share the Bladder Diary that many of her patients must complete to get a comprehensive understanding of how the bladder is voiding in comparison to fluid intake.

If you are someone experiencing pelvic pain or dysfunction, you are not along! And you don’t have to accept that your only option is to “deal with it”. We will listen and do our very best to help you heal!

Your pelvic floor isn’t a brick wall, it’s a trampoline!

Most people are taught that a healthy pelvic floor should be tight, solid, and constantly squeezed. But in reality? A rigid, overly tight pelvic floor can’t do its job!

Think of your pelvic floor like a trampoline:

🟢 A Healthy Trampoline (Dynamic): Stretches, yields, and springs back up when you breathe, run, jump, or laugh.

🔴 A Brick Wall (Hypertonic/Tight): Rigid and shortened. It has no “bounce”, meaning under pressure, it actually leads to leakage, pelvic pain, or pressure.

If your muscles are locked in a tight, shortened state, doing more Kegels or heavy core squeezes is like pulling an already tight knot even tighter.

Why expert care matters: To get your “bounce” back, tight fascia and muscles need specialized manual release first, not generic exercises.

As a Certified Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist, Jane specializes in getting to the root cause of pelvic dysfunction through hands-on treatment, personalized breathwork, and tailored care, so you can move, workout, and live without pain or anxiety.

Ready to heal your pelvic floor from the inside out?

Doing core workouts or Kegels and still experiencing leakage or pelvic pain?

Fitness classes, Pilates, and wellness treatments are amazing for your body, but when it comes to the pelvic floor, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach!

Here’s why: if your pelvic floor muscles are hypertonic, meaning they are already shortened, tense, or holding stress, adding repetitive squeezes or heavy core work is like pulling an already tight knot even tighter. Instead of building strength, it can actually trigger more pain, pressure, or unexpected leakage.

The Key Takeaway: Tight muscles need lengthen-and-release techniques first.

Weak muscles need targeted strengthening, once they have a full, healthy range of motion.

Before jumping into extra tightening exercises, it helps to know what your body is actually asking for. Jane can help you get answers!
