Congratulations, Jennifer!!

We first met Jennifer a few years ago when her son did Vision Therapy with us. After his success, she started to wonder if VT could help with some of the struggles she had had since childhood. Jen had been diagnosed with dyslexia when she was in school but now thinks she may have been misdiagnosed.

Jen said that before Vision Therapy, "I was having problems seeing double, headaches while reading and reading all together. Now, I do not get headaches. I do not mind reading. I am more on task, more focused on doing one thing at a time. I would recommend Vision Therapy to anyone struggling with any of the symptoms I had. It has made a world of difference and was absolutely for the better."

Vision Therapy Appreciation Week comes to a close, but not without one more day of showing our staff how important they are!

Congratulations, Kennedy!!

Before Vision Therapy, Kennedy was having problems with words running together, trackingN focusing in class, and reading was hard. "Now reading is easier. Words aren't running together, and school is easier."

Her dad shared that she hasn't had any tears about going to school, and last year, it was constant.

Congratulations, Jennifer! We are so proud of you!

Before Vision Therapy, Jennifer was having problems with "tripping and falling, headaches, and no longer being able to read or write in a straight line. I was in a car accident and had no idea what was wrong. Then I had a visit with Dr. Conway. After my first assessment, she sat and talked with my loved ones and explained to both of them and myself what was happening with my vision and why I was feeling the way I was.

It was such a relief to know I wasn't going crazy and there was something that could be done to repair what was broken. I am so grateful to Dr. Conway and her team. It took effort on my part to follow through with the instruction that was given as well as homework, but they changed my life. They were caring and compassionate to my symptoms, encouraging me to continue to do the hard work, but reminded me not to overly fatigue myself and also heal the psychological aspects of the accident.

I really can not say enough good things about this practice. Thank you, Dr. Conway and Amy, for all you have done for me."

Congratulations, Madison!

Maddie shares that before Vision Therapy, she was having trouble with eyestrain, suppression, nausea, dizziness, double vision, and much more due to head trauma. "Vision therapy was challenging and, at times, frustrating, but worth it! I feel like I have part of my life back. I didn't think I could. I accepted dealing with my symptoms before therapy. Now, I can go about my daily life without pain and strain from my eyes. I can trust my eyes again. Every balance beam, chart, and glasses I took home week after week was more than worth it!"

FIVE years ago to the day, we opened the doors of KVDC! It has been an incredible journey. We have learned so much in that time and I'd just like to say thank you to everyone who has been along for the ride.

To my patients: thank you for allowing me to take part in your story. My favorite part of my job is helping someone become who they want to be. It is amazing watching a child come out of their shell and gain confidence or seeing a concussion patient feel comfortable again. You make coming to work a joy!

To my therapists: I could not do this alone! I have an amazing team that allows me to do what I love professionally and still be present at home. Amy and Lizzy are engaging, hard working, passionate, and are always striving to learn more and become better for their patients. We are truly blessed to work with you.

To my dad: many of you know that Bruce, our patient care coordinator/office manager/ front desk worker is also my father. He has been my number one fan for as long as I can remember. He drove me to my optometry school interview in a snow storm. He encouraged me to start my own office when no one wanted to add Vision Therapy to their practice. He has been the office nanny for 2 babies, changing diapers and walking the halls to keep the crying minimal. And he comes in early and stays late. It will be very difficult to replace him when he retires in December!

To my husband: Thank you for encouraging me to move to Canada with a 6 week old to do my residency. Our lives were forever changed because of your support. Thank you for picking up the kids and never complaining when I need to work late.

To my amazing in-laws: Without their help with childcare I could not come to work everyday and give my attention to my patients. They have always been so supportive. Thank you!

Thank you for the gift of the last 5 years. I look forward to many more years of helping our community!
