Bosky Strings

Heads up! Bosky Strings will be closed Oct 26 through Nov 2, and we'll reopen Tuesday, Nov 3. 🎻

We’re heading overseas to meet with our makers in person and look at violins, violas, cellos, and basses up close, so we can bring better instruments home to students and musicians in the Valley.

Need strings, rosin, or a quick fix? Stop by this week before we leave. This Saturday, Oct 24, we're open by appointment only, so send us a message to book a time. Follow along on our stories while we're away. 🧳

Congratulations to Ely on his new violin!

Ely is a senior at McAllen Memorial High School and a proud member of the orchestra under the direction of Jesus Tovar. He also plays with Mariachi Los Potrillos under the direction of Esteban Borjas, and he studies with Miguel Gutierrez at Bosky School of Music.

Most recently, Ely made Region 15 Orchestra, and now he has an instrument ready to keep up with him. We’re proud of you, Ely!

Congratulations to Kennedy Foreman on her new violin!

Kennedy traded in her old violin and stepped up to an instrument ready for her next chapter. She’s a sophomore at Edinburg High School and a proud member of the orchestra under the direction of Maria Gonzalez.

Kennedy just made Region 15 Orchestra last week, and now she’s gearing up for her All-State recording. Perfect timing for a new sound. Go get it, Kennedy!

Congrats to Emilia, freshman at Edinburg North High School, on her violin upgrade!

“We’ve been renting. Should we just buy?”

If the rental is rent-to-own, that time wasn’t wasted. The real question is when to make it theirs, or step up to the next violin.

Come try a few at the shop. We’ll help you decide.

Congratulations to Abraham, a junior at Edinburg High School, on his violin upgrade.

He is a proud member of his school orchestra under the direction of Mrs. Maria Fernanda Gonzalez, and of Mariachi Primer Orgullo under the direction of Joshua Chairez. And it came just in time for his Region 15 orchestra auditions.

Glad we could help him find an instrument ready for what’s next. Welcome to the Bosky family, Abraham. You’ve got this at Region.

If you’re ready for an upgrade, come try a few at Bosky Strings. We’ll walk you through what fits your playing and your budget.

One of the most common questions we hear at the shop: “Do we need a mariachi violin or an orchestra violin?”

They’re the same instrument. Same strings, same tuning, same bow. Orchestra and mariachi just ask for a different style of play and here in the Valley, a lot of students do both.

We wrote it up here: https://boskystrings.com/blog/mariachi-violin-vs-orchestra-violin

🎻 Congratulations, Michael! 🎻

We’re so proud to celebrate Michael, a junior at Edinburg High School, on his new violin! Miguel is a standout member of his high school orchestra under the direction of Maria Gonzalez, and also proudly performs with Mariachi Primer Orgullo from Edinburg High, under the direction of Joshua Chairez.

Michael’s talent speaks for itself: he made Region Orchestra AND Region Mariachi both his freshman and sophomore years! That kind of dedication across both classical and mariachi traditions is exactly what we love to see here at Bosky Strings.

Here’s to many more beautiful notes ahead, Michael! 🎶

Congratulations to Gabriel Ozuna on his new violin! Gabriel is a recent graduate of La Joya High School, where he was a proud member of the orchestra under the direction of Karina Aldape. This fall he’s starting at UTRGV as a mathematics major and is already thinking about adding a minor in music composition. We love seeing a student carry his music with him into the next chapter, and we’re honored to be part of it. Welcome to the Bosky family, Gabriel. Felicidades!
